Latest Koji Suzuki Novel in the Toilet

Acclaimed horror novelist Koji Suzuki, the author of Ring and Dark Water has published his latest fright tale, Drop, with a unique twist. The story of an evil spirit that inhabits a toilet bowl has been published not as a traditional book, but as a roll of toilet paper by toilet paper manufacturing company Hayashi Paper Corp. The nine-chapter story is printed in blue ink interspersed by splatters of red “blood.” The story is repeated over every 86 cm of paper. Each roll costs 210 yen.

Japanese superstition holds that ghosts and evil spirits inhabit the smallest room in the house. The toilet ghost Hanako has appeared in anime including Haunted Junction, Toile no Hanako-san, and Gakkou no Kaiden.
