South Korean production company Zero Nine originally released the giant monster movie Yonggary in 1999 to unappreciative reviews. The film is now scheduled to be re-released to South Korean theaters next year as 2001 Upgrade Yonggary. The new version will feature extensive upgraded and new CG rendered special effects. The original version of the film was created with an international audience in mind: virtually all of the actors were Westerners and all of the film’s dialogue is in English. Perhaps the “special edition” version of the film will find more success and the international market its creators hope for it. The official 2001 Upgrade Yonggary website features story information, stills, and an impressive theatrical trailer for the film.

The official Toho Godzilla site has opened an English language Godzilla X Megaguiras page that features story information, monster data, and trailers for the film in QuickTime and Real Media formats.

According to a report this week in Japanese newspaper Nikkan Sports, Gojira film producer Shogo Tomiyama confirmed that Angilas (AKA Anguirus) will appear in the next Toho Godzilla film. Angilas, the turtle-like kaiju, was Godzilla’s first ever giant monster opponent, dating back to 1955. Angilas became one of Godzilla’s allies and appeared in numerous Godzilla films until 1974’s Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla.
