I've heard of people doing this before. They'll stay up for over a day trying to beat games in one shot. Apparently people have succeeded.

I'd have to say the longest games I've played would be MGS4 (If you actually watch all the cutscenes) The Gauntlet games (I miss those, they were incredibly fun) Mass Effect games, and Dragons Dogma so far is pretty long, I still ain't even close to beating it, but I'v already put in at least 10 or so hours so far.

I couldn't do. 2 hours max and than I have to take a long break. If I play more than 2 hours I begin to feel weird..dumb. I have to do other things. Just isn't healthy.

I'm exactly the same way.. Plus my fiance would never let me sit and play a game all day, got important things to do like dishes, gym, work and yard work to take up plenty of my time..

Heard that. Specially if the game is really good, there's no stopping just 2 hours in.

I saw a photo earlier this year - which I will not even attempt to find to repost because of it being in remarkably poor taste - of a young dead man, who died in similar circumstances; an extraordinarily long stretch of gaming in a café.

He was only discovered to be dead several hours after he'd died, and rigor mortis had set in. So the corpse was stuck in keyboard and mouse pose, still sitting upright, head still aloft.

I think he was in his early 20s, ordinary skinny little east-asian fellow. It was tragic, but a little comical that he'd just frozen up in that pose.

In this case, the gamer had rented a booth and locked himself in all that time.

Now, I'd suggest it's terrible for business for customers to die while in your café. I mean, they sound like pretty good customers to pay up for so many hours... plus I don't think I'd like to hire that booth knowing someone had died there, how about you?

Mind you, I wouldn't want to hire a booth that any young man had spent on his own using the internet for several days without venturing forth. Maybe it was usual for customers to.... you know, do things that staff wouldn't want to disturb.

I'd suggest that the people who run these places run them like gambling places; whether it's a casino or a bingo hall, how to look after customers who are there to spend money and fuel their non-chemical addictions and not die on premises is a solved problem.

If they don't mind knocking on the door and acting like a pleasant host and providing water and cheap food, once in a while.

So the only cases of people dying from playing video games are Asians? hmmmm....

On the other hand, this is what happens when you want to cement your spot on the all time leaderboards of the game.

The longest game session I did was 11 hours and that was with Smackdown: Here comes the pain. Even then, I still got up and used the bathroom.

Longest I could go without getting up is maybe 2-3h tops.

Longest session these days including getting up would probably be 5h.

My record for longest is about 18h if I recall correctly. That was back when I was all hardcore about D2, lol.

I don't like playing online games because I feel like I'm letting people down when I need to take a break to use the restroom, eat a meal, go shopping, or just because. I hate that feeling. I only played WoW for a couple of months, but I felt like I couldn't take breaks because there were so many people counting on me to get across the map, to do this quest, to cast this buff, to etc etc etc. Ugh.

Diablo III actually didn't seem as bad to me, since I would play with people and just quit whenever I wanted to, since there aren't any team mechanics, really.

Ugh, I always hated those people who would go pee 4 or 5 times during the length of one dungeon

I probably would have been one of those guys. For some reason when I play online with friends, My bladder always gets sensitive on me and I have to piss like 8 or 9 times in an hour. It never fails.
