OMG... Kubo really did it. He really killed someone. 1st division VC DIED!!! Looks like 106 members of the division died (too bad they were all nameless).

NEL!!! Halibel!!

Looks like the new baddies are taking over HM...

A bit interesting. Kubo finally kills someone after years and years of nobody really important dying, but it still is someone who shouldn't have been in the piece in the first place, so meh. Nel and Harribel showing up is interesting. The casual execution of the two Arrancar lieutenants suggests this guy doesn't care about anything except whatever his mysterious goals are, and I strongly sense he might go for Aizen for whatever reason.

Maybe we'll get Grimmjow to appear. That would be nice. He's long overdue for an appearance.

He was pretty much nameless fodder, but I'm still shocked he died. SMH @ Inoue still not realizing that she could totally fix Nel's mask. Sad to see Halibel in chains, but glad she's kept her body up as queen. Not too surprising that Hueco is in a state of disrepair. Didn't Kubo say that none of the Espada were as strong as Vasto Lordes, meaning that there have always been random wild Hollows running around HM that could take them out if they got the inclination to?

Isn't he dead? Ichigo left him near death and then the spider dude came out and said something like, "losers don't deserve to live" and struck him down. I totally could have missed something but what makes you think he's alive?

It's ambiguous. The body is never seen after Nnoitra strikes Grimmjow down. Last we see of him, he looks like he's been through hell from the fight with Ichigo, but he isn't exactly dead and crawling around on the ground. In this series people don't die even if they are killed half the time (Hiyori survived bisection at the waist, for crying out loud). Comparing Grimmjow's death with the deaths of the other Espada, his was remarkably ambiguous. Yammy bleeds out after being pummeled by two captains. Aaroniero is head-stabbed. Szayel is technically still alive but might as well be dead. Zommari gets ruined by Senbonzakura. Nnoitra gets cut down by Kenpachi pretty clearly. Baraggan is eaten by his own ability and Starrk gets wiped out fairly openly too.

I skipped Harribel there because she's very relevant. Harribel was cut down by Aizen literally in front of the viewers and there was nothing suggesting she was alive. In a sense it was very similar to Grimmjow, except Harribel was stronger than he was and wasn't necessarily losing her fight(s). And now she shows up suddenly, after tons of chapters where she's been gone. It just makes me wonder, especially given Grimmjow was damn close to switching sides anyway, even if his end goal was to kill Ichigo. He's like a potential new Renji (or Vegeta, for a better comparison).

EDIT: Just checked Bleach wiki (which has a surprising amount of citations) and they claim Grimmjow is still alive. Ichigo blocks Nnoitra from finishing Grimmjow off (as he's lying on the ground wounded), and that's the last we see of him. Apparently at some point he's revealed as still alive, because they have a nonspecific citation when they say exactly that.

And the citation is "Weekly Shōnen Jump; Bleach section, Issue 9 (2012)" ... which us 'Mericans will have to wait to read.

I liked that Kubo is bringing Hueco Mundo into this as well; I suppose an alliance between Quincy, Arrancaar, Shinigami and Humans 'to deal with a common foe' is forthcoming. They'll probably all give their power to Ichigo so he can use a Getsugatenshogenkidama against the badguys

It's because of years of cynicism and crappy writing from Bleach.

Few questions:

Why kill off the 2 subordinates? You're just making it easier for the enemy by eliminating their own.

How exactly did he slow Ichigo down? He failed to do his job properly and was forced to retreat.

Why didn't Soul Society just use the badge to communicate with Ichigo instead of using such a roundabout way of telling him?
