Irony in that people like Ben Heck have done laptop versions of the contemporary consoles which are smaller than this and significantly better looking.
Ben's PS3 Laptop Ben's Xbox 360 Laptop Isn't it funny how a single guy can do better than a company at this sort of thing? |

It's more portable than carrying my TV and home threater around.

This isn't new. I remember years ago I had a screen that would attatch to the back of the PS2. It was cool when I was like, 13, but the novelty wore off fast when you realised it had almost no practical use. Anywhere that you could set the thing up (i.e having power and a large enough space to set it) likely already had a TV you could use. Hotel room, etc.

I've got one of those PS2 screens too. I actually took it on holiday somewhere where I knew I had access to electrical sockets but no TV... then was disappointed because it showed PAL only and couldn't cope with a 60hz mode in games. But, ah, TVs were big and heavy in those days. It seemed to make sense.
This though... is really billed as a portable device. In the days of touchscreen mobiles and tablets being everywhere... it just seems silly. Here's another good one. The "Nintendo Game Boy GBA SP Arcade Tabletop". http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Game-Bo...item3a66cfa029 http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/06/nin...cade-tabletop/ It's a Gameboy SP plonked into a large piece of wood, with a full size arcade stick and 4 (four!) full size arcade buttons. Still with its dinky screen. Yours for only $399 US dollars. This one doesn't seem so serious... but you never know...

port·a·ble [pawr-tuh-buhl, pohr-] –adjective 1. capable of being transported or conveyed: a portable stage. 2. easily carried or conveyed by hand: a portable typewriter. Oh look, you can still transport it. It must be portable.

Calm down, calm down, it's only a comedy thread.
![]() Actually, now you mention it, I have seen someone plug a PS3 controller into an Asus Transformer and start playing... ok, they were only Android games, but still - it gives me the idea... If you could get a mobile device to pick up a wireless controller, and have some sort of cloud gaming service, you could have all sorts of powerful games to play on a mobile device. As long as you had one of those super-high-bandwidth contracts. That would be coooool. ![]() [googles] http://www.knowyourmobile.com/mobile...ud_gaming.html Oh wow. Not only has someone else had this idea, but it's nearly here! But PC games only, at a guess. It's awesome when you think of something cool and then it turns out someone else is implementing it. You get the feeling of ownership but none of the slog of having to do it yourself.

With what Bell and Rogers charge up here for Data plans, it'd be more equitable to just build your own friggin house whenever you need to play a console game.
