Adventure Games
I'm in dire need of some. Please recommend. Preferably for PC, but anything is fine I guess.
I enjoy everything from retro style (ex. Space Quest, Maniac Mansion) to first-person graphic style (ex. Myst, Dark Fall: The Journal). I also don't mind if the game is filled with puzzles (ex. Drawn). I have played Indigo Prophecy, and while I thought the presentation and direction of the game was good, I found the gameplay to be frustrating. |

Here are some of my favorites:
The Longest Journey Dreamfall: The Longest Journey 2 Still Life Still Life II Puzzle Quest (puzzle adventure game) Amnesia: The Dark Descent Heavy Rain (the next game after Indigo Prophecy, with better gameplay IMHO) (this is the only PS3 one of the bunch, rest are PC)

I will second Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Just buy it off STEAM, it's pretty cheap now I think. And I will go ahead and recommend Syberia on the PC. One of my favorites.

Are we talking Action Adventure games or of the Point and Click variety?

I thought Ben There, Dan That and Time Gentlemen Please were quite good, and funny:
http://www.zombie-cow.com/?page_id=17 Telltale Games seem to be the main developer of Point & Click adventures at the moment: http://www.telltalegames.com/ Most of their games are on my "things to get round to someday" list, though. ...if you get a DS, get Ghost Trick. ...if you get an Xbox 360 or PS3, L.A. Noire which is due to come out very soon sounds promising. Not point and click, but it's all 1940s style detective work and investigation.

@gibb - I checked out the trailer for Amnesia...and all I can say is...wow, I'm kind of afraid to play it haha. I'll get on the Still Life games ASAP. Looks good.
@tenshi a - I've heard of Ben There, Dan That. I never got around to it. I'll check it out. I've played TellTales' Back to the Future adventure game part 1. The graphics and voice acting were cool, but nothing else really stood out. I'll probably play something else before I come back to that. I'm kind of a fan of the Art of Murder series, so I like me some detective style adventure. |

Check out gog.com for adventure games: http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#adventure/ gog.com is great because they rework games to work better in newer computers, and release them completely DRM-free. They have Still Life on gog.com, as well as a ton of other good games like the Syberia and Broken Sword series. Another World is a great game as well.

If you didn't already play either Day of the Tentacle or Sam and Max Hit the Road, you need to. If you did play Sam and Max, try out their episodic games.

^ Oh man! Day of the Tentacle. Sadly, I never got around to playing it. I always said I would, but I never did. I kept forgetting. I have to write that down. I love Sam & Max too. I haven't played the episodic games though. Thanks for the reminder.

If it isn't one of the funniest adventure games you ever played, as well as one of the most fun I will post a video of myself eating these words on youtube.
