Best and Worst Concert(s)

Just as the title of the thread states, what was/are the best and worst concerts you've been to? I've been to about 40+ concerts and quite a few stick out while others just downright disappointed and should stick to recorded material only.

Best:
Linkin Park
I've seen Linkin Park four times and they have never disappointed. They always sound phenomenal and Chester's vocals are just insane live. They always get you pumped and even though they've been touring with the same material for a while now, I still always look forward to seeing them live because they just bring so much energy to the venue.

Nickelback
I don't know why people hate on them so much, but I love Nickelback. They are amazing artists and actually rock a lot harder live than on their albums. Their sound is a lot heavier than the recorded versions and Chad Kroeger sounds fantastic live. Like Linkin Park, I'll see Nickelback whenever they are in town.

Lady Gaga
Love her or hate her, she's an amazing performer. Her outfits and costumes are wild, she has amazing energy and her concert tells a story (albeit strange, but thats what you get with her!). She blew me away. I was nervous to see her only because she has sounded absolutely horrid on her tv performances, but I was completely floored when I saw her live at Madison Square Garden.

Worst:
Counting Crows
I'm not a fan, mind you, but I had no choice but to see them because they toured with the Goo Goo Dolls (which is the band I went to see primarily). Goo Goo Dolls were amazing, but Counting Crows, man, wow, they blew. BIG TIME. Adam was so completely sloshed on god know's what, that he didn't even sing, he just garbled the words and half the time nobody knew what they hell he was saying, not singing, but SAYING. I went with about six people and those other people were big fans of CC and even they said it was awful.

I've been lucky to have gone to so many concerts in my young 22 years and never really had any lousy experiences with bands live. The only one that stuck out for me were the Counting Crows.

So, what about you guys? What were the best and worst concerts you've been to? Stories are much appreciated!

Best:
Rush (Snakes and Arrows Tour)
These guys are absolutely phenomenal live, and the fact that they can put up a 3 hour show with only 15 minutes of intermission and end on the same note they started with is impressive. Lately, their use of the video screen and pyrotechnics has also enhanced their presentation tenfold.

Metric:
Quite a sound powerhouse for a 4 member band, they're really fun live and the fact that they extend some of their songs with improvised segues and whatnot really makes seeing them live obligatory as a fan.

Beardyman: The guy's just fun. You'd never think that there'd be much to a beatboxing set, but when he stacks several effected voice tracks together, he starts sounding better than even electronic artists out there. He's also hilarious with some of his improv rapping (a memorable one being him singing about how tough it is to be an Oompah Loompah)

Worst:
AFI:
Seriously, these guys aren't my favourite for music, but their stage presentation is worse than shoegazing when the entire band just sways around while the frontman jumps around like a hyperactive chihuahua that had its food swapped out for chocolate covered espresso beans. It came as no surprise to me when they got booed all through their set and even had mud and shoes thrown at them.

I don't know the best, but the worst was yesterday. Went to go see BtBAM who happened to be touring with Underoath and As I Lay Dying who i didn't want to see so I figured we'd leave after BtBAM. So, the first weird thing, this concert starts at 4... so we leave pretty early to go get stuck in LA traffic. We get there and we find out that 8 ****ing bands are playing. To make things even worse, every single one of them sans BtBAM is terrible (sorry metalcore/hardcore fans, I hate just about everything from this genre). So we sit there for 4 hours getting through some nonsense and finally get to BtBAM. BtBAM starts and of course they decide that their setlist has to match all of the other hardcore bands, so they have a pretty terrible setlist. And, of course, all the douchebag hardcore kids and their karate kicking moshing decide it's ok to start a launch pad so about 52 kids just jump onto us. So, pretty much, there we are defending ourselves instead of having a fun mosh and being able to watch an awesome band.

tl;dr: We expected BtBAM to be the most awesome live band ever but they were pretty much completely butchered by ****** fans and an awful sound system. Although, the recording from my friend's camera sounded pretty good.

Let me see if I've ever been to a bad concert.

My first concert:

Wheezer (2001)
I was quite new to the band at the time so I wasn't too big on them, but I must say they put out a good show, Dashboard Confessional and some other band were played before them and they were both good.

Green Day (2005) American Idiot Tour:

What can I say it's Green Day, first time seeing them live and I still remember the concert well, Jimmy Eat World as on before them, again the whole concert was great no complaints from me.

Linkin Park (2006) (Project Revolution)

This was the concert that My Chemical Romance was touring with LP and Taking Back Thursday, as well as an English band named Placebo, HIM, and some other weird band. Not a bad show to be honest this was the year Minuets till Midnight came out, so Mike Shinowa had his Fort Minor Crew with him, and I was big on Fort Minor too, so all together I must say that was a good show.

Metallica (2009 Death Magnetic Tour, Boston/New York)

Wouldn't you know I got to see Metallica twice last year once at the beginning of the year and other near the end of that same year. Bot the Boston show and the New York show were amazing, possibly the best two concerts I've ever been to, Metallica knows how to draw a crowd, they should after doing it for 25 years. Rob Trajilo has nothing over Cliff Burton when doing For Whom the Bell Tolls, however. Sound quality at MGS was rather bad though compared to Boston, but New York brought me more of the classics like Fight Fire with Fire, Whiplash, and Battery.

So really Metallica was both good and bad, not a bad combination though, clearly they were far superior to Wheezer, Green Day, and Linkin Park (Plus all those other bands on the same concert) Combined.

^ I went to that Projekt Revolution tour as well. They sounded great as always. Mind you, the sound at the Nikon theater in Jones Beach isn't great considering that it is an outdoor venue, but we had great seats and they never disappoint no matter where I see them (although they sounded unbelievable when they performed at MSG. AMAZING!)

I also saw Metallica during that tour as well. It was the only time I had ever seen them so I can't really compare them to any other time, but I was really surprised by them and how much I enjoyed the show. I love that they play in the center of the venue as opposed to one side so that way no matter where you sit, you can see what is going on on stage.

[EDIT]
Forgot to mention Warped Tour as one of my worst concerts. Of course, its on the hottest day of the summer so I'm sweating in places I never knew I could sweat, the only band I wanted to see was the first band of the day so I was stuck there for the rest of the day pretending to enjoy the other sets and I'm a 5'3, 105 lbs girl and I had to deal with crowd surfers and mosh pits in which I was smooshed, shoved and kicked more times than I could count. I'm not really into being sardined in with strange sweaty kids who lose their shoes and throw crap all over the place hoping to nail someone in the head. During New Found Glory, someone thought it was funny to uncap a full bottle of soda and chuck it in which it slammed me in the back, exploded and my clothes, hair, and skin were sticky the entire rest of the night. I never looked forward to a shower more than I did that night.

I went two years in a row (why??) and luckily my best friend whom I went with the second time was having a horrible time as well so we just shopped around the booths for free stuff, band t-shirts and autograph signings. Never again will I go to Warped Tour (although meeting Anberlin was awesome).

It's hard to not like a Metallica performance, the controversy of their music being a huge monopoly is backed up by superior professionalism.

I haven't seen them before this but Hetfield's voice has changed dramatically over the years and has gone through various stages, he lost his voice a while ago and it's better now, but back in the 80s the band use to be a lot more aggressive on stage. (From Youtube videos at least) Hetfield still carries his sense of humor though which is a huge benefit for the stage. Metallica doesn't waist a second to make sure the show is top notch.

I'm gonna see Megadeth soon this month I hope it's equally good.

Best concert I have been to was easily coachella 2010. Sick lineup. Complete utter madness. Best act would probably be Wu back in like '06 right after ODB died. That was a serious concert.

Worst was JMT at rialto theater. The sound quality was terrible and Vinny P vowed to never return. He did not even finish his set it was a sad day for AZ hip hop.

@chu

Metric throws a great live show I saw them for free not to long ago in T.O.

I have a good friend who claims that Sugar Ray peed on the entire front row of a concert they were opening for? He was on the front row. ><

Metallica, Godsmack, and the Trans Syberian Orchestra combo was godly.

It's official, Metallica may know how to put on the best lazier light show in a stadium sized arena.

But Megadeth and Slayer combined in one concert just blew my head away. People are not kidding when they say Dave Mustaine is one badass Mother ****er on stage, he knows how to put a show on without giving too much visual credit. After playing the entire Rust in Peace album on stage, as well as a few other songs from various albums, (like Trust), I felt I had more respect for the most hated man in Metal, than all the guys from Metallica combined. No question Dave is a hero.

Dave Mustaine even has the most badass guitar in the world.

He took this out during trust.

Any bigger and the thing would have touched the floor.

And Slayer was just as epic on stage, not being a huge Slayer fan myself, I didn't know many of the songs but what they did play I was head banging to Kerry King the entire time. If there was any person in the world to replace Dimebag Darrel's squealing guitar style, King is the guy to do it.

Every time he had a solo, I was thinking, "God Damn do I wish to see Pantera just once in my life time."

I suppose Slayer is as close to Pantera as I'm gona get.

Daft Punk, Muse, Nine Inch Nails and Dr Dre's Up in Smoke Tour are such superior concerts it makes every other concert look obsolete or rather like the worst concerts ever in existence!

Also Trent Reznor really knows how to put on a hard rocking show! Seriously back in 95' when they played March of the Pigs, I would have died happy if I died that night.

I heard Pendulum has awesome concerts but I never got to attend one when they were touring in the US.
