Um, that's not what you said, 'foo'. You said that 'virusses' is a noob term for Malware.

"Virus" is typically used as a catch-all for any type of infectious computer program, however, Malware is limited to software that is not able to replicate itself and copy onto other machines, a true Virus is a program that is able to multiply and spread to other computers.

Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware will both grab things that Nod32 won't even take a look at.

Nod32 is a pretty good AV, it's main benefit though is that it is extremely easy on system resources. A year ago it would have been my AV of choice...

Hardly. Nod has a real-time virus database linked to the account on your PC which it downloads from once a day and updates with. It has the fastest early warning system around and is far more proficient at removal and protection than anything else, with the possible exception of Kaspersky.

Windows 7 is great, but it's not just going to magically fix problems. I'd still be using Windows XP but the 64bit version isn't really supported by anyone.

I would say upgrading from XP is a must, since it is not being supported anymore. But I still love 2000 so what do I know?

PS: Melion. Check your registry files(Be careful, though. That aside, most likely your PC is having troubles shutting down an annoying program. Mine had the same issue with Google Chrome.
