This is almost as bad as what they are doing to X-COM. I know they are very mainstream these days, but is there any reason why developers seem to think every freaking game needs to be made into a shooter?

^I have to disagree with Homecoming as I found it fairly disappointing. I still think the series peaked at Silent Hill 2. Thats just me though

Homecoming was awful, monsters made absolutely no sense (in the silent hill series monsters are manifestation's of someone's psyche, but in homecoming there just sharp and pointy for no odd reason), was trying way to hard to be silent hill 2 (hell pyramid head shows up for absolutely no reason), overly equiped you because of the "soldier" training (and then created a huge plot hole by just making you a crazy person that knows how to fight like a soldier for no odd reason), copied all the scenery and atmosphere from the movie, had zero memorable scene's, etc. really its just an awful silent hill game no matter how you look at it.

RTS games are typically godawful on Consoles. And since it seems they reaaaaally wanted to do a console game, seems they went at least a sensible route and made it an SRPG.

I can't watch the video right now, but if what other posters say is true, I think that a Front Mission action game isn't a bad idea. How many times are you going to recycle the same formula of mech SRPG action? A spinoff isn't a bad thing, especially if it's well-executed.

Front Mission Online and Alternative was fun when I played it, so I'm hoping this game is at least playable.

Uh, wat? Having watched the video, it looks to me like the creators of Front Mission approached Double Helix with this idea. The footage looks pretty sound to me, and it looks like they're taking the strategy element into the consideration of the game design.

Honestly, I don't understand what your problem is. The game is consistent with the existing art style. Are you telling me you never wanted to actually TAKE CONTROL of the Wanzer? For, what, 15? 20? years these massive machines have been tethered to a grid, and now we the player are in control.

If this game has the simplistic control of MechAssault, and not the unnecessarily obfuscated control of Armored Core, I think we'll have a winner.

Behold the slowest lamest gameplay you've ever seen in a mech game, and no i have never once wanted to control these things it's why i bought the game when it was an SRPG, whenever i do want to pilot a mech i just play ZOE 2.
