So did I. I tried to watch Nemesis again but could not make it past the go cart chase.

Well I've seen every episode of every season of each incarnation, because y'know I'm amazing.
All of the series started out pretty bad: TOS had...Christopher Pike? TNG had lycra suits, strict military discipline, Tasha Yar, Worf in pink and Brent Spiner trying too hard. DS9 had Sisko with hair, non exciting runabouts, some quite bad over acting (Bashir/Odo) and some quite terrible aliens. Voyager had too much Kes, a lack of 7of9, boring planets, a tiring rivalry between the two crews and a female captain. Enterprise had a painfully weak ship that lost nearly every fight, a lack of direction, barely any introduction to the races that they were meant to be meeting, sulibans and a lack of quantum leaping. Of course the counter point to all of this is what's known as character development, which is why we can all agree DS9 went on to be the best series. Now we've established that I shall go on to provide a detailed list of why we all love Captain Benjamin Sisko. Emissary to the Prophets Son of a god, making him technically a demi-god Led countless engagements against the Klingons, Cardassians and Jem'Hadar Second only to the Admiral of the Federation alliance, practically won the Dominion War by himself Captained the first Defiant-class Federation vessel (essentially the Federations first warship) Took the Defiant into many battles, destroying hundreds of enemy ships Punched Q in the face Used a forged datarod to trick the Romulans into joining the Dominion War, when found out aided in the assassination of a powerful Romulan senator On one occasion led the Defiant against over a thousand Dominion ships with the intention of taking them on alone Retook a Dominion controlled DS9...by himself Retook a Circle controlled DS9 using guerilla tactics While in an alternate reality had sex with his best friend (Dax, while she thought he was somebody else) His 16 year-old son Jake was ****ing a 20 year-old Dabo girl Went back in time and ****ed up history by replacing a key historical figure... told Starfleet to **** off when they questioned his motives Once brutally beat a Klingon to death because he was between him and the blood wine Can whip up a creme chocolate souffle with one hand while fighting off Jam'Hadar warriors with the other Could make such a convincing Klingon he even had Worf fooled Rendered a human populated planet uninhabitable forcing the inhabitants to flee just to flush out a single man Spoke down to Picard, a superior at the time, and made him go tinkle in his little red pyjamas: Wolf THREE. FIVE. NINE! Arrested his fiance for treason of which she was sentenced to 2 years in Federal prison, didn't shed a single tear Often used blackmail and threats to maintain order on the Promenade And last but not least... tackled a ubered Gul Dukat into Hell, became a God To sum up, "I lied... I cheated... I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all: I think I can live with it, and if I had to do it all over again, I would." -Captain Benjamin Sisko.

I decided I liked Sisko when he punched Q in the face.
Everyone hated Kai Winn. She was a stupid, annoying *****.

Was that a chuck norris or sisko post, lok1?
j/kAgreed. There are ways to make a character not-liked by other characters, without making her genuinely awful. It annoys me how hideously two-dimensional her character was.

I was hardcore TNG until. . . I had some time on my hands. DS9. It was cheezy, but I jumped in at S3. Two words. . .Gul Dukat. Frikkin' love Gul Dukat. The writing is much better later in the series. I enjoyed the arcs. TNG for the classic and DS9 for the action-y type stuff. Gul Dukat ftw.

Eugh. Todays episode of TNG is "The Child".
Can I go ahead and claim this simply the worst episode of any Trek ever? |

No TNG episode is worse than "Masks".

"Masks" was weird as hell, but it didn't make me want to drop kick a baby like "The Child" does.
I mean, really - a bad episode focused on a character that was still ridiculously under defined and we're introduced to Polanski... blarg. I guess it is better than Spock's Brain. Barely. |

Both episodes are awful, I don't know if I could choose which one I like less. "The Child" makes me cringe, whereas "Masks" is just incoherent and uninteresting. "Masks" has a lot less excuse for how bad it is though. I am not planning to watch either again any time soon.

Mask is so bad because it does not even try to have a story. It is like the writers were sitting around needing another episode and saw an ad for Belize right next to an ad for a Mardi Gras Krewe and thought "Lets make an episode about Mayan Mardi Gras taking over the Enterprise".

You should read the book "I,Q". Only Star Trek Novel I liked. Had a scene in it where Qu is arguing with the Grand nagus and the Nagun thinks he's won. Nagus: Ha! You've made one of the classic blunders. The most well known is never get involved in a land war on Vulcan. Only slightly less well known iis this: never go up against a Ferengi when profit is on the line! (Later after Q outwits him) Nagus: Inconceivable! Data: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

No user serviceable parts inside.

^ You've obviously never heard of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Whoopi Goldberg, René Auberjonois, Sir Patrick Stewart, or any of the several guest actors that became famous after.

Shatner's caeer has pretty much been built off parodying himself after Star Trek. That doesn't really count. Whoopi was already famous and asked for a role on TNG. Arguably Patrick Stewart's only worth-while roles since TNG have been voice roles...
The rest are fair game. Last edited by Siendra; July 11th, 2010 at 10:57 PM. |
