Adventures in Voice Acting, Vol. 1

This is an interesting little documentary put together by Bang Zoom to discuss voice acting in english dubs of anime shows. I picked it up recently, mainly to see the interviews with some of my fave english va's. I was surprised by the amount of work some of the actors put into it, for such little reward. Some of the replies were quite humorous, like Crispin Freeman's original opinion of english dubs (he thought they were horrible). Also, Steve Blum comes across as the most laid-back person I've ever seen. Folks that like dubs should definitely checkout this dvd. And, folks that hate dubs might be surprised to see that the companies behind them don't just hire bums off the street....

I'll probably pick this up eventually. I'd love to see Colleen Clinkenbeard do an interview. She's one of my favorite voice actors.

i always like to hear about voice actors..
japanese mostly the best ones ..
lots of the english are bad.. some good , few great .
i dont care who they hire .. just make a sample if the people like the voice or no.. or some kind of pilot .

I'll pick this up eventually. Don't think I wanna pay $30 for it though on Amazon though

There's a lot of good, talented English voice actors out there.

ive always wanted to b a voice actor I have an ANIME voice. its weird i just have no clue how to get into it. or even try out

One glaring omission in this documentary is that they had almost no one from Funimation in it. Funi is the main producer of english dubs nowadays, with one of the biggest collections of voice talent in the biz. I hope they are included in later volumes.
On the plus side, they did include the NY actors, who you almost never see anymore....

I'd pay full MSRP for this series if it contained a scene of Wendee Lee getting hit by a pie in the face. Or a bus. Or a bus with a pie mounted on the front. Pretty much any combination that involves pie or buses would be fine by me.
