Hunter X Hunter - The anime ends. Where does the manga begin.
I have searched the forums and google to no avail. I haven't read the manga except the first few chapters and it looks to be almost exactly like the anime. Should I just skip the manga chapters and start reading after Greed Island? What is the exact number where the anime ends and the manga begins?

Start reading from page 10 of chapter 185. There aren't too many differences between the manga and anime. If you want to see the Hisoka-Kastro fight in full, then check that out in the manga. It's one of the most interesting fights in the series and the anime just kind of skipped to the result. It was rather graphic and disturbed so I don't completely blame them. Most are just minor differences and Hisoka related. Like in the first episode you hear a guy screaming in the background after bumping into him. In the manga he rips off his arms. Or during the manhunt, the hat guy not only gets decapitated, but the privilege of having Hisoka carry around his head for a while...

Thanks.
Yeah. I figured it was mostly the violence that had been changed from the manga. I started the Ant arc and its pretty gory. I think the chance that this will get animated is pretty low if they plan on adhering to the low amount of violence that they show in the anime. Edit: Do you remember what issue the Kastro fight is in? I might as well check it out.

With the OVA format, they can get away with everything in that arc. Being on TV is the only thing that limits that. So without that hurdle, it's smooth sailing. Now it's just a matter of this damn arcs finishing in our lifetime so that it can finally be animated. Hisoka-Kastro starts in chapter 52.

Yeah I see what you mean.
I finished chapter 290 last night. This is one long arc. Chimaera ant arc basically starts from where you told me chapter 185. And Im guessing there is at least another 20-30 chapters at least based on how slow the fight has been going. Was Hunter X Hunter the anime popular enough to warrant another OVA?

The manga is still really popular in Japan so that's why Jump gives him so much slack. The full volumes are still one of the best sellers and another OVA would be an easy pay day. That can't happen till it's actually done however. I think this arc will be really badass in anime form and look forward to it.
