Mobile Suit Gundam 00

I just wanted to give props to this anime. I started watching it a while back and quit on it. I decided to rewatch it again from the beginning and I have no idea why I quit in the first place.

At first, I thought there were too many Characters and Nations and the plot was a little too convoluted. However, I am really enjoying it and can understand why it is so highly rated on the two major Anime ranking websites I frequent.

I am on Episode 11 of Season 1 and I am still hoping they will give more information about the background and motivation of each character. Also, a Celestial Being history episode would be nice.

No one should think that kind of plot is convoluted...

It was suffering from the "Sunrise Syndrome", because nobody actually dies(well, one or two people are exception, but it still takes alot of tries to kill them and one of them is killed off without much importance to the story).

The only thing good is the animation in some of the fight scenes.

Well, they only had the West, Eastern bloc(All of Asia became communist), and Africa.

Too many characters, it means too many un-important characters(example: TRANS-GRAHAM, and Ali, even poverty princess is pretty useless in the show aswell... and unlike Marcross, that one song did NOT bring peace to the entire universe).

This is like W Gundam, with less strong characters.

W Gundam - Heero: "I am going to kill you"

00 Gundam - Setsuna: "Well, the next time your nation...blah,blah,blah,... We will come back.(and what they will do is not even specified)"

but it has the classic 'kill everyone in sight for peace' strategy favored in Wing.

The lead doesn't have less personality than Heero Yuy though. That's impossible since Heero Yuy has no personality at all.

In Wing the Gundam boys were fighting the Earth Alliance on the behalf of there colonies. They weren't working together at first and there Target mostly becomes OZ later on.

In 00 Celestial Being is a secret organization who are not Freedom Fighters at all and do not fight for a group of people. The fight on behalf of there vision of a world without peace. Their targets are those who hope to start war are threat to life.

The Wing boys could care less for a country with no ties to the Alliance or OZ and they don't really care about the fact that war exsist. Hell they are going to war. In 00 CB isn't fighting a specific group at all for their benefit. CB will attack any Nation hoping to start a war for basically its own benifit.

The shows are different. If you nitpick almost any anime you can say its a copy cat of anything.

Story aside, I hate the mecha in this series. It looks like they grabbed ideas from every series and some extras like mecha Overman King Gainer and sent them to CLAMP for a redesign. I half expect them to carry wands and shoot rainbows and stars.

Season 1 was one of the most awesome sights I have ever seen. I used to look forward to each sunday every week. Season 2 isn't as good. Well I won't go into anymore detail than that but a lot of potential from the first series was forgotten.

I believe Gundam Wing is the worst Gundam Series ever made and Gundam 00 is nothing like Gundam Wing.

I'm almost finished with Season 1 and things have gotten alot more interesting.
