Splosion Man

So I'm probably about a week late for the serious buzz around this game, but who else is playing it. I wasn't planning to get any more MS Points at the moment, but they went and changed my mind with this... how can you not like 2D platforming with added explosions?

Seriously though... does destroying random junk actually do anything? I notice there's a ton of stuff you can blow up other than the scientists, but does it matter, or is the goal merely to reach the end of a stage?

Yeah I'm posting before I even completed a stage in the trial, that's how crazy I am.

---

Now I've completed a stage I'm still clueless, but oddly pleased the game scores me on how much delicious cake I collect.

Not that I know of. Yes the game is awesome. And co-op, yes?

Co-Op, yes. I think maybe 4p can coop, not too sure. I saw 2 extra slots when I hooked up with a friend for coop.

When I looked at the controls for 'Splosion Man and saw that every button was mapped to 'Splode, I knew this game was pure win. I love playing this with my speaker/vibration chair full blast and 'sploding away.

There's an achievement for making 5000 filet mignons. I assume that's from 'sploding the scientists. That's another winning point with this game, the comedy.

We should hook up for some coop sometime.

If anyone from AN sees me online, feel free to invite me to do some 'sploding.

(Yeah I bought the game. How could I not?)

I'm not sure which is a more homoerotic title for a game. Splosion man, or Plumbers don't wear ties

Single player is fun too.

There are friends list leaderboards for everything - each world, each level, score and time trial! There must be over a hundred leaderboards...

Only some of the time! Other times it was awesome!

I love the detail in this game.

Like.. when you 'splode, the lead guitar kicks into the soundtrack for the duration of the explosion, as part of the music, then fades out again as you re-form.

I also love the song about loving doughnuts.

The platforms on level 2-9 are an arse, though. I have spent ages on them! Grr!

EDIT: Woo! All I needed to do was take a break to vent about the platforms. I finished the level, with cake, .15 of a second above par. Haha!

I love when he runs and extends his arms like child impersonating a plane, complete with the accompanying propeller noise and everything or when he stands in place and punches the air or does jumping jacks. Those always put a smile on my face

Yeah, he's somehow completely deranged and cute at the same time.

I just discovered you download some cool stuff off the Twisted Pixel website:

http://www.twistedpixelgames.com/spl...freestuff.html

Some wallpapers and soundtrack MP3s and images you could print out as Xbox 360 faceplates.

I've done all the normal levels and found all the cakes, and I'm onto the last boss. Man, this boss is hard. And really really gross!!

Already! How do you do it? I don't even remotely understand how you could possibly have sploded your way to victory in only a week.

The end credits are hilarious.

There's an update to fix the leaderboards on Splosion Man to get rid of the glitched times (some people had 10 second level completions on some stages, I don't know how).

BTW when I first finished the game, it told me that there's going to be a competition running this month (Sept 6th - Sept 12th) for everyone to try and get the best time in level 3-8. The winner gets an autographed poster and a Splosion Man statue.

That's a nifty kind of competition.

I guess they needed to fix stuff before then.
