Final Fantasy Tactics on Japanese PSN (PS1 classics)

Oh man this is what I'm talking about. I may have to snag this so I can play it on my PSP as opposed to that abomination that is the official PSP version of the game.

What was wrong with the PSP remake?

Slowdown and a translation that wasn't to everyone's taste.

The slowdown absolutely killed it for me. It was like nails on a chalkboard everytime I needed to use a super processor intensive skill such as "Throw Stone."

I didn't really notice slowdowns on FFT PSP and I played FFT PS1 like only a month before it was released =-/

It's just sad that Squeenix botched a port of one of my all time favorite games of all time, a PS1 game, when NISA was able to port Disgaea (a PS2 game) to the PSP and have it run flawlessly. I realize Disgaea wasn't a super graphic powerhouse of a PS2 game, but compared to FFT it was pretty advanced.

Actually I have to agree. It's playable, it's just not ideal.

I wish that the American PSN store had even half the amazing titles Japan has. I'd probably spend about a hundred, easily...

I mean, yea it frustrating sometimes, but with the new (accurate) script, new scenes and re-drawn FMV's, it's an even trade off I would say.

Plus, personally if your playing a SRPG, slowdowns should be the least of your concerns

Tell me about it, I'd a had a few games already, but Play-Asia must be crazy if they think I'm playing that much for their Japanese PSN cards.

I had no problems enjoying the PSP Final Fantasy Tactics, even with the slowdown. Then again, I haven't played the PS1 release since 1998. Then again, the biggest problem overall with Final Fantasy Tactics PS1 or PSP isn't the slowdown, but the fact that the story is too damn confusing. I beat the game and I still felt like the game failed to explain things to me, mainly about Saint Ajora and the Lucavi. Then I have to go all over the net and and look up information about the story to help clarify things.

Sounds good. I might pick it up if it's worth it, since I've never played it and is universally well-regarded.

I get what you mean, but even a 1 second slowdown for an action you have to perform 2000 times when grinding can substantially add to a frustrating experience.
