Anyone else enjoy Rumiko Takahashi Anthology?

I've only seen the first two episodes, but wow, what a great show! Just goes to show how creative a mind she is- not only can she spin incredibly entertaining stories out of the wacky like Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura, but she can create these really creative and engaging stories out of elements from mundane, everyday life (though, granted, I don't know how many people ever took care of a penguin in their apartment, Misato Katsuragi excepted). I think that Takahashi's strength really lies in seinen, and how in works like Maison Ikkoku she's really in touch with the way people think, act, and interact with each other, and Rumiko Takahashi Anthology is no exception. She really knows how to write everyday people.

I like the second story in particular, "Merchant of Romance," about a young woman running a wedding hall that financially is on its last legs and is about to give up on it until she meets an older couple who want to get married there, one last ceremony for the hall. I like how it's a story about looking towards the future with hope and resiliency- a fresh start, if you will, despite whatever setbacks you may have faced in the past. Plus I like that it's a more mature story- not as far as content goes, but as far as ideas, pacing, and dealing with issues that grown ups have to deal with like divorce, shutting down your business, etc.

Anyway, this series is off to a really good start, and I wanted to know what others thought of it.

I thought it was the best bit of Rumiko's work I've seen to date. It was nice to see that she's every bit as much on her game when it comes to short story writing as she is when writing long serials.

I laughed aloud at some point in every episode, and I thought it was hilarious how a scene or character from a previous story would pop up in a subsequent story.

My favorite story was Aberrant Family F, and I had to say I laughed loudest at that one. The little girl was priceless. They're all excellent stories, though.

I've only seen the first three episodes, they were good. But they also had their boring points, I really enjoy the intro song.

I loved it, too bad Geneon said it sold extremely poorly.
