So I Think My Wii Is Messed Up

Well I woke up to the sound of my sister arguing with my mom this morning (What else is new?). Then I noticed looking straight across from me, that my Wii was turned on. Which then I started to get scared, because I know I had left it off when I last used it and I had no idea how long it had been sitting on like that. It seems to run fine, but it seems like the colors might be oversaturated. I tested out playing Ninja Gaiden on it which I downloaded off the Virtual Console and it seemed like the screen was jumpy a few times, also when I was on the menu screen at one point when testing out Super Smash Bros Brawl with it.

So I don't know what to think... I usually leave it where it's turned off, but the red light is on, I'm guessing that it would be in standby then, or is that actually it being turned off? I've gone ahead and just decided that I'm unplugging it when I don't use it. There was one time recently when I took the batteries out my Wiimote and put them in my wireless mouse almost a week ago, but could that have triggered this somehow? I never noticed it being turned on until this morning. I just hope that my Wii doesn't have any permanent damage or anything, because it would suck having to buy a totally new one. I bought mine off Ebay almost two years ago, so I doubt there's any warranty that can help me.

Well, you didn't drop it in water or down the stairs, Which, being a Nintendo console, It would still probably work ayway. Other than kick it a few times (which I highly recommend) I honestly doubt it's anything you can do.

Turn it off and leave it off for a few hours.

Then try cleaning the Video Cables.

Then try cleaning the disc, and maybe dusting the back of the wii off (if this applies to your situation)

It's possible it could be your television or your mind playing tricks on you

LOL. My Nintendo 64 got dropkicked around the room, thrown at people, and had an extremely large douchebag dropped onto it via wrestling moves, and still worked fine.

Have you got another TV in the house to try plugging it into?

My gamecubes used to be fine, but then one day the TV decided that it would remove one layer of the display. It's really weird! You get layers of graphics disappearing in games, e.g. clouds aren't coloured in anymore, the colours are wrong, or text no longer displays or whatever. And that affected both a PAL and a US/JPN console, with a variety of different cables! But the TV displays everything else just fine, and the gamecubes work on any other TV... it's really weird!

So if you can, try it with a different TV and/or different cables.

And unplug all electrical goods if you're not using them. It's just good practice and saves a bit of money on electric.

You can always just send it back to Nintendo for repairs. Their customer service is pretty excellent when it comes to warranty. I got my GameCube repaired free of charge with it.

Actually I just tested out my Wii right now playing a bit of Super Mario 64 on it and it seems to be perfectly fine now, so good. This thread is totally moot now.

It was probably too hot. Leave off Wiiconnect24 and you should be good.

Yeah, leaving WiiConnect24 on for long periods of time can fry the GPU if it's not in a cool environment. Luckily Nintendo fixes that free of charge.

And this reminds me of the time I left my Gamecube on for 2 weeks straight while it was doing a battle against four computers w/ pokeballs set to high. I was trying to get MewTwo, and then went on vacation

Worked fine when I got back.

I usually leave WiiConnect 24 off except for weekends when I play it. I've noticed that the system does get hot if left in that mode. I'd rather save energy and increase my console's life cycle just by leaving that off.
