They did make up their mind, and I called this literally from the very first episode of the show. I feel powerful.

In any case, the filler is finally wrapping up and there really shouldn't be much more to it at all. Which is nice. Can't wait to see more of Hueco Mundo, though I enjoyed the filler for what it was (shame Nukui Hanza was such a pushover and had an ugly final form, I'd have hoped he was more interesting).

Dude, we ALL called this. I mean, its obvious he wasn't going to be there after the filler, and what else than to kick SS when its down right? I didn't even watch the filler, and I knew he'd be evil.

Kind of disappointed, I was hoping to see more Amagai vs. Hitsugaya. Oh well...

I'm not so sure about Amagai being a villain either. If he is, then why would he go to Yamamoto? He sent Renji to show Yamamoto the bakkoutou, so I don't think he's planning to pin the whole thing on Ichigo and Rukia. Not to mention I doubt that Lurichiyo would go along with his story.

I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

Actually, now that there's some sort of conspiracy since he kinda showed up in front of Yamato. Good or bad can still be up in the air, Yamato can be in some way involved but we can't be sure yet....

Maybe he will "step down" from being a captain and just be a regular shinigami. That way he can be incorporated into the current arc just like RinRin, Cloud and Nova.

Amagai is working for Yamamoto undercover. He must be as the only other reason he would go to Yamamoto would be to blackmail him which is impossible. After everything is all said and done Amagai returns to his recon mission and the bleach storyline balance is restored.

It is amusing how they try to make you think he is a traitor

I liked this episode. Amagai came in and kinda made a fool out of everyone. Ichigo asked him what he was doing and he just looked at him in an Aizen like gaze that seemed to say, "I don't have to explain myself to the likes of you" and vanished.

I'm pretty sure he's nowhere near as strong as Aizen but I did like how he played them all and then just bounced once he got what he came for.

This is my take on Amagai. First he knew all about Kibune, and I think they had the same ambitions to become the strongish in SS. So he had the Kasumiōji family make the bakkōtō to help in those ends. And the end goal is to take the position of 1st Division Captain by the same means that Zaraki Kenpachi took his seat. Yes i know this is a streach but think about it if am right ,more then likely
we will see Amagai Bankai and and epic fight between Amagai vs Yamamoto

Bit of speculation: I think the secret behind Amagai's double zanpakuto deal is that while Raika is indeed a zanpakuto, I suspect that his green lightsaber thing is in reality a bakkoutou or something along those lines. After all, Kifune's worked that way (and he had it hidden to boot), so why couldn't Amagai's? On the other hand, it's shown at least two distinct abilities, with the teleporting action and then the actual blade.
