Filler arc: two different stories?

So the filler arc keeps jumping between Karakura town and SS, in the most recent episode there was finally some mention of Ichigo among the captains. It's felt like there's two stories being told. I expect them to be unified sometime soon but frankly right now it's just annoying.

Uh, what?

The stories have been unified as of the past two or so episodes.

If that doesn't make clear it's become "unified"...then I don't know what you think unified is.

I don't know where this arc is supposed to fit in with the overall timeline. I mean the gang are still in HM right? So this happened in the past or maybe the writers aren't going to bother and jump right back into HM when this arc finishes.

I'm still scratching my head over why they let go of HM so soon. There were a couple of places that they could've let off as a cliffhanger..like Uryu/Renji's battle with Szayel.

Anyway....I haven't seen 181 yet.

Soifon kicks Ichigo's *** supposedly. I don't really want to see it, because it going to be random, and for some reason, make Soifon only out to be a bigger *****.

I was bored so I downloaded the filler, it's basically 5 minutes of Ichigo standing around while Soifon flash steps all over the place and kicks him. The she gets frozen by Rukia and they run away.

I also don't like the fact that Rukia can freeze Soifon when she's captain status. Any other captain, and it would have been for null. Plus, why would she act out against a captain like that in the first place? I don't see that in Rukia's character. It's bullocks.

Actually she created a wall of ice for the gang to get away. I got the impression that nether Soi or Ichigo were serious and really didn't want to fight each other. I reckon Ichigo would win if he really wanted to at any rate.

Ichigo fought Kenpachi and won, heck in the Soul Society Arc he made it pretty clear he was at least captain LvL and he's been improving tremendously since then....what Business does Soi Fon have in beating him, the only people that should kick the crap out of him like that are the top 3 or 4 Espada, Aizen, Yamamoto, Urahara and Yoruichi.

I hate how they have to make it seem difficult for Ichigo and Co. to defeat filler enemies, really... they should just win easily against them all the time, seriously in comparision to Aizen and Co Filler enemies are weaklings.

I'd almost prefer that to the obvious weakening of main characters for filler story purposes.

Kibune, the new 3rd seat, is revealed to be conspirator/slave to Kumoi, while Lurichiyo is mysteriously gone from Soul Society despite Ichigo and co. having seen her go (the Lurichiyo was a fake planted by Kumoi in the recent stuff, but the real Lurichiyo is still somewhere in SS). Amagai is going to go combat Ichigo now.
