I know a lot of you guys don't care to see the numbers, but I thought you guys would find it interesting how well the wii did even with the release of GTA. I thought the 360 would of did as good or better than the Wii, considering GTA. Even the psp outsold 360 and ps3.

I expected higher sales of the 360 and PS3, especially with the release of GTA4. The Wii and DS are still selling a ton, and people are still buying the PS2?

Sony is making a lot off the PS2. I smell a price drop during the summer.

Wow, even Mario Kart Wii beat the PS3 version of GTAIV ? ....Man *insert random fanboy comment*...

And geez, I thought everyone had a PS2 already. What the hell, how is it still selling like that? it's like people just buy PS2's just to match the number of TV sets in their houses, kinda like a cable box or a DVD player.

Well, Mario Kart Wii is understandable, as it's a pretty popular game (I bought it myself, too ) but the PS2 is kinda weird....you would think people would have one by now or use the money to invest in a newer console.

Though, right now is the perfect time to get a PS2 for a lot of people. Lots of great games at bargain prices.

i am honestly surprised to see a near double sales of GTA 4 for xbox over ps3, i would think there would be more consoles sold because of it, but looks like the market is saturated for xboxs, i wonder how long ps3 can go

That's insane.



People really overestimated GTAIV's sales. It did great but people didn't take into account that the PS3 +360 userbase is only a fraction of what the PS2's was when San Andreas came out.

expect the gta4 effect to take place in next month's data. this data was taken 5 days after gta4 was released world wide. not enough for it to have any significant effect on console sales.

Given that this game is one of the most hyped up games of the year, console sales boosts should have been seen throughout the month, like with Halo 3. Xbox and PS3 sales were DOWN from last month, both topped 200k last month.

those first 5 days is when the hype is at its peak. Usually thats when a game sells console. and like Gendo said should have been seen throughout the month. Even if I'm wrong, you would still think 360 would at least sell 200,000

good point. oh well. anyways, i don't get how m$ execs can still afford to be so cocky about their console when they outsold ps3 by 900 units this month in america, and probably got trampled on in the other two regions..

True but with GTA IV 360 sales so much higher it's hard for them not to brag that of the two, they're the place to be for third parties. Either way it's definitely a positive and negative defined generation, with each console catering to a fairly unique crowd. My Wii annoyed me pretty quickly and my PS3's flat out boring me, but with MGS 4 on the horizon its likely the only thing that's getting turned on next month. For once. Must say I'm actually partial to the 360 though. So far. I started ignoring Wii sales a long time ago. Gamers aren't the ones buying and even with the new controller Nintendo's milking the old stuff so meh on that.

To add to what GT said, a lot of people bought systems a month before the game came out.

Oh, and as a whole, this generation is incredibly boring. I wish I had more to chose from than Shooting games, Mini games, and no games.

I thought that GTA4 had sold like 6 mil copies, so there are like 3 mil copies missing from that graph. GTA4 sold over 3mil copies the first day. Half the people buying mariokart wii are moms whose toddlers like to play with the wheel
