When they go Super Saiyan in DBZ, their hair turns golden and stands up. My question is, what happens to... um, the hair down there?

I always assumed all of their bodily hair goes golden. Their eyebrows do, so it stands to reason. I always assumed Nappa's moustache would as well had he made it that far.

I don't believe that's true. I remember a scene when Goku and one of his sons were taking a bath (either young Gohan or Goten), and he ended up going SSJ for some reason and it burst their bath barrel. We got a behind shot, but none the less that was a naked SSJ.

I'm more interested in the physics of clothes in DBZ. If you wish someone back from the dead, why are they still wearing clothes? If people ARE dead, why are they wearing clothes? During fights, how can clothes be ripped so thoroughly as to eliminate the entire upper half and run ragged the pants and boots, but otherwise not affect said lower half?

Tis a (censory) mystery, to be sure.

Perhaps his trousers and boots are made much more durable for decency's sake. Goku wears a regular shirt though because ultra durable clothing is very expensive.

Goku has to lose his shirt because the more clothing you lose, the more powerful you are. It's one of the basic principles of combat. They fire a rocket at the good guy and he's engulfed in the explosion. Suddenly, he emerges shirtless and stronger then ever before. That's why The Hulk is so strong.

He doesn't always just lose it because of being engulfed in energy. I'm pretty sure against Vegeta and against Buu, he ripped it off himself (well, against Buu he only ripped off the orange one and left the dark blue one). Maybe he's slightly obsessive compulsive because it's always one sleeve or whatever gets torn off. And the thought of wearing an uneven shirt is too much for him?

I don't know.
