So, I was looking for a new series to start and I've heard alot about Kanon so I decided I'd watch that next. But, when I went to look it up, two versions came up. Which one is more preferred, the 2002 or the 2006 version?

2002 had the better ending, but the overall quality of everything else in the show pales in comparison to KyoAni's 2006 version (which still had a good ending regardless). So the best bet is to go with 2006, and maybe watch 2002 later for the slightly better ending, and for Lenoichi.

In the 2002 version Yuichi suffers from elephantiasis. 2006 version they remove this.

I haven't watched the 2006 remake, but I found the original released in 2002 to be pretty unmemorable. The character designs definitely look much better in the 2006 remake. If Air was any indication, then I'm sure I'll enjoy the remake of Kanon.

It's like before and after pictures... the top of his head is completely flat.

2002 had a much much much better ending. Otherwise 2006 is an all around better show.

It's much more impactful, some moments which weren't in the 2006 remake were wonderful and shouldn't have been overlooked.

Maybe I'll watch the last few episodes. I don't know if I could handle 13 episodes of Frankenichi...
Plus Tomokazu Sugita is one of my favorite seiyuu. ...hey I didn't realise he was Chrono in StrikerS, maybe I would have if he'd been on screen for more than 15 seconds.

Just watch episodes 11, 12, and 13 then. Although some people prefer how they handled Makoto's episode in 2002 better as well (10 I believe)

Watch the 2006 version, it's better all the way around . . .

Well I guess the vote goes to 2006. Thanks for all the info, I'll probably check the original version out afterwards. Those before-after pictures definitely took the cake.
