Aokiji's appearance is the merest first hint of what is coming later.

Yeah, I've always liked Usopp, but the level of respect I gained for him is now to the stratosphere.

Such a good chapter.

The emotional stuff in that arc has barely started. The CP9 arc makes up for all of the flaws of the Skypiea arc and then some. The climactic battle is just ****ing awesome too. I think it's the best one on one fight in the whole series. It might be the best fight I have seen in any shonen ever.

I've heard hints of how incredibly intense and awesome the CP9 stuff is. I've only heard nary a mention of it so far, but I'm sure I'm pretty close since 'someone' said something about it a few chapters back.

Can't wait.

Manga/One Piece related:
Normally when I go on break, I'm usually reading a few chapters of One Piece on my tablet as I've been ought to do for these past few weeks. Now, I have another co-worker I'm really cool with who's also into the series/Anime on a whole, who happened to drop it just after a Skypiea stuff and hasn't been back since. So since I've passed him recently, I've been talking about how incredibly awesome everything is (without spoiling anything, of course) just so I can get him back into the fray and as I get further and further along and tell him more and more on how much things are getting better, I can see him breaking ever slightly (He has no problem with OP, he's just really focused on school).

Now today, as always I'm on break eating breakfast and trying to sneak in a few chapters before I have to go back to work. The same friend walks into the break room and see's me reading and we start to talk about everyday stuff all whilst me trying to persuade him to pick it up again. Now, more people start to walk in from that particular shift including a coworker of mine that I only every say "what's up" and "later" to. I don't have a problem with him what so ever, we just aren't "friends", or anything. Now, as I'm walking to my OP friend I have my tablet faced up on the table, screen on and he looks over, we greet each other, he then looks down and says "Wait, who's that? Moneky D. Luffy? Dude, whatchu' know 'bout that!?" So I look at him shocked as **** and reply "Man listen, what YOU know about this!? " and as we begin to talk I find out dude's a HUGE Manga/One Piece fan and is up to the latest episodes/chapters.

Now, this is a type of dude you'd maybe never expect to know what manga is, let alone read it, so I was completely taken aback about the whole thing. So afterwards all three of us were there now talking about how awesome this series is for about 20, unaccounted for, minutes And both of us even convinced my other coworker who dropped it to pick it back up. Hell, he even convinced me that I should watch the anime (I'm still on the fence about that part) and that I should be reading faster because some of the stuff he was saying about things that are going to happen (All filtered of course) made me wanna knock out 10 volumes a day instead of the 3-5 I've been doing.

Is this the true awesome power of One Piece!?

Edit:
Well, Franky's interesting...

Speaking of, Oda's something else by the way. Once I start to lobby a complaint in my head about something small in OP, Its like he know exactly what he must do and then changes exactly what I was bothered by.

Guy's something else...

I don't care about Skypiea. I don't care about its inhabitants. I don't care about Waipa and his crew. Don't care about Verath. Don't care about Enel or his four guardians; I just don't care about anything. There's just no urgency to what's going on, so (as of now) it's making everything seems very superfluous.

The best thing for me in this arc personally is how the Straw Hats are interacting with each other. It's small and most instances are throwaway comments/scenes, but they seem to be getting along better and becoming closer as a team.
This is fairly common, it grows in relevance the more you get into the story because it was written to be something very specific that was scrapped. Skypiea was supposed o be the halfway point in the story, it is the first time really bring the big subplot in the show show to the fore, namely

That pretty much is the motivating factor for the rest of the series. You also get introduced to the main antagonist who singlehandedly starts the world spiraling out of control.

Outside of him being incredibly strong, there's just nothing much to him. Yeah, you can say that about the previous villains, but at least each one gave you an intense reason to hate them.

No matter how great the the climax is, I just can't wait until the crew get back to blue sea.

Edit:
@ Luffy v Enel!

Once I saw that Enel's power was electricity, I almost KNEW that this fight was going to turn out like this.

Edit 2:
Wow... that was... Luffy is...

Wow...
Eneru (the early manga translations are terrible) is probably my favorite character design in the series, with some recent people being a close second.

See I loved the Davy Davy back stuff, the ball-man scene and Afro Luffy are some of the funnier things in the manga. Oda pokes fun at his own characters in that arc which is par the course for him. He tends to make a serious then a light arc.

Yes, that is what One Piece does, Oda creates a fantastic, over the top, detailed world, populates it with with great characters and a simple to follow plot structure that is no were near as simple as it first seems once you dig into it. Everyone except Brill appreciates that, just wait until the Chekhov's Guns start showing up to tie up what seems irrelevant events and characters in the past to the main plot .

Daily Thought:
CP9? Robin's True motives?? Enies Lobby?! Oh, ****!!

Side-note; I always smile ear to ear when one of the Straw Hats refer to Luffy as "Captain". I don't know why, but I just do, every time.

CP9 is really Robin's introductory arc. She is there before that but she isn't really introduced until CP9 when you find out her backstory.
