favorite/sweetest/funniest/most romantic date episodes

Most romantic or sweetest dates in anime:

1) Shiro went out with Saber on an afternoon date (Fate/Stay Night). The scene with a smiling Saber cuddling a lion doll was cute.

2) Mizuho going out on an afternoon date with Mariya (Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru)

3) Mayu going out with Kaoru on a date. (Ai Yori Aoshi). That was quite romantic but what happens at the end of the date was really sweet. That scene of Mayu playing piano to entertain Kaoru was good.

One of my favorite anime date episodes is in Darker Than Black that Misaki invites Hei a.k.a. Lee Shengshen to a date that includes dinner and playing baseball. That wasn't as romantic as Shiro x Saber's date but it was pretty sweet and I liked how Misaki and Hei conversed socially. That date episode was the most social occasion they went together in the whole anime.

As for the funniest date episode, I nominate Hagino Kana's date with Kamikura Hiroki in Canvas 2. It was a good comedy episode.

Although the series completly sucked the date with Ryoko and Tenchi was nice.

... just a quick query: why is it that a majority of these dates involves going to dept. stores, trying on some clothes/bathing suits? i never understood the whole concept. must be a japanese thing.

Ippo and Kumi when they go on a date and end up going to a haunted house. Mashiba scratching the wall in the dark and scaring the crap out of Ippo for the win.

I would have to say when Nuriko took Miaka out for a date in Fushigi Yuugi. It was actually an illusion that took place after an unfortunate event that happened in the story. Miaka invisioned Nuriko taking her out on a date in Tokyo and see how they had such a great time together. It was actually sweet, funny, and romantic at the same time!! After seeing this, I remember I just cried. I would've liked for them to be a couple if Tamahome wasn't in the picture.

I dunno, a lot of my dates involved going to a mall or galleria and stopping in various stories, some of which are clothing (not usually a first date..). Trying on bathing suits might be pushing it but not so weird to go to department stores.

Ayu and Yuuichi's date from Kanon was too priceless.

I'll have to say my favorite would be Satō and Misaki's "date" in Welcome to the NHK when his mom comes to town and basically figures everything out that he's trying to pull then ditches them and tells Misaki to enjoy herself. That was a cool episode. Misaki looked nice. I'll also throw in them going to the festival if you could call that a date. That was pretty cool too.

It made me a believer that nobody in Utena is a virgin, not even the obvious jailbait, and that pedophilia/incest/twincest/homosexuality/beastiality/etc. is in no way frowned upon in the context of the series. It's as close to a fetishist's ideal heaven as a shoujo anime can get.
