Advice needed.

I just got the warning that my Antivirus program from Norton will be expired within a month. But I find that Norton Virus takes in a lot of place and that it costs too much money for what it is worth.
Anyone who could recommend me a solid and reliable anti virus program, that is not too complicated as I'm(some of you already know)not very good with computers and has a reasonable price?

I like McAfee, however, I'm not sure that the price is any better than Norton. Wish I could be more of a help to you.

Just switch to AVG Free. It has basically everything you need in an antivirus program, and it's completely free unless you want to go for the extended version.

Norton and McAfee both use a lot of system resources. I've used AVG Free Edition for a long time now, my computer hasn't exploded yet. It uses a bit, but it's minimal compared to Norton.

I have the same issue with Macafee...I just ignore it (the "already expired" warning) because I have freeware taking care of my security now...it's all i can do since this is my laptop and not a "critical" laptop computer.

NOD32 rules, but you have to pay for it. Whenever it detects a virus, a gigantic, pissed-off eyeball pops up with a red background. The only way it'd be cooler is if it punched the user in the face.
Just get AVG for free.

Like everyone else I have had AVG for a very long time and have never looked back once. Should really make life a tad bit easier for you.

So the most of you agree I should get AVG free?
I don't know,I always learned that something that is free always has a catch. But if you say so and never had a problem with it, I will try it out.
Thanks a lot for your help.I appreciate it very much.^^

Yeah AVG is the best, it also doesn't make my computer go so slow.

I find that's not always true of software. Don't ask me why, I'm really not sure.

Yeah, AVG is pretty cool. Never requires me to do anything. I don't think there's a catch.

As I'm reading the posts in this thread it is indeed apparently not always true. And I can only be glad to discover that's the case.
I tend to get a little paranoid in these times where everything comes at a price.Luckily there are exeptions.

AVG's basic virus scan is free but they still want you to upgrade & pay for "better protection" but its not really needed. Just the free version is great enough.

Depending on your ISP, they might have some security software specials. I know my ISP, which is Road Runner, offers a lifetime subscription to CA Antivirus/Anti-spam/Firewall/Spyware. It's the best security program I've ever used, especially the firewall. The only complaint I have with the firewall is it has a fit with some wireless devices such as the Nintendo Wifi adapter....but all is good thanks to our new wireless router.
