Who is Mystery person in Bleach?;Rukia's hidden love

In the beggening of bleach there are several references to Ichigo being similar in appearance to a mystery person. Renji almost mistakes Ichigo for someone he knows and Byakuga has to interven telling Renji that though his appearance resembles that of the mystery person they are not one and the same.
Rukia in an emotional scene at the beggening, thinking to herself, admits that Ichigo resembles someone she knows and as a result she feels close to him.
No other mention is made of this mystery person for the rest of bleach

Does anyone know who this mystery person is.

MY FIRST THOUGHTS WERE KAIEN SHIBA BUT I DON'T SEE HOW RENJI COULD HAVE MISTAKEN KAIEN FOR ICHIGO WHEN KAIEN HAS BLACK HAIR AND ICHIGO, A DISGUSTING BRIGHT ORANGE.

I still think its Kaien since Ukitake and Rukia are on the 13th squad. Rukia was close to Kaien, and so was Ukitake. That, or its Isshin as a younger man.

Yeah. Plus Ukitake was mistaken when he first saw Ichigo too, if I remember correctly. It is definately Kaien. This would also explain why Rukia took such a liking to Ichigo in the first place.

Actually, there's a strong resemblance in the face, and hair. Hair shape I mean, not hair color.

really, tell me which one i'd like to watch it.
ps theres a kinda resemblance between the two but there is no way a human being/shiginami with moderate vision and an acceptable Iq would mistake one from the other even from a distance. Ichigo's hair sort of gives away like a matador holding a red flag. But then again that anime for you

Well if your reading the manga, which its based on there isn't much color to base it off of. In black and white they look pretty much the same.

Still i'm sure the characters in the manga would know the colour of ichigo's hair. But as I said thats anime/manga for ya.

well even in the real world people mistake people for friends all the time. hell i've done it knowning fully well what color my friends hair is. People DO color their hair, it happens. It's not that farfetched for someone to mistake someone else for their friend even if their hair color is different.

Usually people tend to focus on the face.

you could say that Kaien looks like an older version of Ichigo. its a more mature face, so you have to take Ichigo's age into account.
