windows vista help

my computer is messed p due to some program and my recovery disk is acting weird. ive put it in and followed all the instructions. but it looks like it stops working after a while can anyone help me.

You should contact India support for either Microsoft or whatever PC manufacturer you purchased it from. If you want to do the smart thing do the follow these simple steps.


1. Buy a windows XP cd boot to DOS with a pre XP recovery floppy.

2. At a command prompt, start Debug. When you're at the minus prompt (-), enter the following lines and press Enter after each:
F 200 L1000 0
A CS:100
xxxx:0100 MOV AX,301
xxxx:0103 MOV BX,200
xxxx:0106 MOV CX,1
xxxx:0109 MOV DX,80

xxx:010C INT 13
xxxx:010E INT 20
xxxx:0110

3. Go into your bios set the cdrom, as the first boot option

4. Load windows XP.

When you purchased the windows vista program it should have comed with a reinstall dvd. Although you will loose any documents or changes you have made, I would wipe the hard drive if you have a wipe cd and then reinstall the OS. Although yes you might loose everything it would at least provide you with the knowledge you have a correct operating system. If you don't want to go that route I would check the hardware. It could be a bad hard drive. But thats just me.

As BM suggested: get XP. Vista is simply a highly polished, shiny log of poop impaled by a padlock.

I have no complaints about Vista, it runs great for me and I've had it for about 2 months. I dono what you guys are talking about how vista likes to give you the "red scream of Death" all the time. have yet to see that.

Me too, I've had vista home premium for half a year now. And the OS has never crashed once. As opposed to my XP which crashed on a daily basis...or at least every 2 days.

I have had WoW freeze up a few times to the point of my computer rebooting, but I don't blame Vista for that that's a software issue not the operating system, And I've had to by pass WoW patches in order for it to work because of vista, but that's not something I have to ***** about every time I run WoW.

Red scream of death? O.o don't you mean blue screen of death O.O I used ta get the blue screen 'a death alot when I first got my computer. I literally got windows vista when it first came out so it was very unstable at the time. I was making a DVD and I'd get the blue screen randomly. then my dad comes in and tells me that I can't make a DVD when I don't have an internet connection O.o [thinking at the time: yep sure dad I NEED an internet connection to make a DVD]

someone tolled me that vista changed the blue screen of death to red.
