Word translation request

I'm trying to translate a couple of things from Disgaea 3 screenshots and wonder if somebody could help me.

One of the character classes looks like a Chinese warrior and her character type in kanji is:

風拳土

The individual characters mean Wind, Fist, and Earth, but I was wondering if it had a translation for the whole thing. My guess is "Martial Artist", but I can't find any help online. If I google it, I get Chinese results, and I asked one of my Chinese coworkers and she didn't know what it meant.

I think the last one is suppose to be 士 and not 土 (look closely to see the difference)

Which translates to either:
Wind Fist User
or
Wind Fist Person

in terms of FF reference, 士 is used for such job as
風水士 (Elemental Master)
薬士 (Potion Master)
召喚士 (Summoner)
黒魔導士、白魔導士、赤魔導士、青魔導士、緑魔導士 (various color of the mages)
戦士 (Warrior)

Ah, that makes some sense.

If I were to say 風拳士 as one word in Japanese, would it be "fukenshi"?

"kenshi" to me means "knight", but that might be a bad translation.

I guess a good translation might be "Wind Knight" then?

Yeah, I think it's Fukenshi (stretch out the Fu sound...so it sounds like "Fool" with out the L)

剣士 is swords man and normally you wouldn't say 拳士、rather 拳法士 (Martial Artist), but it's also not wrong to say 拳士

In this case, it wouldn't be a Knight because it says 拳 (Kobushi / Ken) and not 剣. In other words, this person is describe as a person using his fist, not a sword. And in general reference, you wouldn't classify a Knight/Swordsman with a Fist.

Very cool, thanks for the information. I translated it as "Wind Fist User" like you said in your first post.

Yeah, my guess would be fuukenshi. (Fuuken = wind fist, shi = warrior)

shi doesn't necessarily mean warrior, it's more of a "person"

usually use it to describe one's profession.

Like 士師記 would be Judge
士官 officer
宇宙飛行士 is astronauts

But I think the "warrior" translation can be applied in this context. .^^
