Geneon gets Saiunkoku Monogatari

As good as officially official.

Source: ANN.

I hear this is a good one. I've been "trying" to watch this, but the 30+ episodes (so far) are too much for my limited free time.

I was hoping Geneon would be the one to license it. I finished the first series just the other day and thought it was a great show with lots of good ideas and characters. The second season just started to air the other day with an unknown episode count so I doubt that have the rights to that yet. But all is well and I forsee lots of stunning cover art for the DVDs.

Yes! I've been praying that this show would get licensed! My wish has come true!

I also told myself when I started watching the fansubs that the moment Saiunkoku was released in the U.S, it was getting added to my collection. Without exception. To know that this series will one day be able to sit on my DVD shelf makes me want to backflips across the room with joy.

Cool, I started this back when it first came out, but at the times subs for it were scarce, but I'm glad it got licensed since I'd wanted to see more but never got around to it.

He's afraid they'll give it a bad dub. Of course I told him no one is forcing him to watch it.

I only started watching this show because the second season is airing in Japan now. So I decided to give it a shot and loved it! I`m not finish with it yet though but I`ll sure I`ll get the DVDs in the future.

just finding out what they did to it by word of mouth bothers me. i might buy the series, but im using all subs. i know theyll at least keep the black text boxes that pop up. if they do that, ill rent a dvd just to check it out. if its good enough, ill buy the series.

but if i hear from a lot of people that the dub is actually, then and ONLY then ill check it out.

but ive heard Saiunkoku Monogatari's name mentioned a good amount before. Newtype covered it a good while back. looks and sounds pretty interesting. ill see if i can see some of it on youtube before it all gets deleted.

I've tried watching fansubs for this but releases were so slow that I stopped after around the third episode. When it took a couple months just to get one episode subbed (compared to weekly releases for some series), it's not very motivating to keep watching. I do like the opening song, though.

Then what about a snake-shaped gun? You could make it look like you're grappling with a giant snake and then get a shot in on the enemy while they're distracted.
OK, now you're being ridiculous.

I watched one episode of it and I loved it completely. I am glad that it reached the U.S. and I am definitely going to get the DVDs as soon as they are out.
