I was going to guess "replace" as where the ANN link says "It will be different than the OVA". At least thats what I'm hoping...

Anyway, this news this morning made my month.

... ever notice how the genshiken specials (the one with ogiue) Opening sequence is shot in a way that is similar to the Kujibiki Unbalance TV Opening?

Great news! I just finished reading volume 8 of the manga and I love how they focus on Ogiue. I knew the OAV wouldn't cover that story, so, I was hoping they would consider continuing Genshiken with a new season.. and I'm so happy it came true! Maybe they will show Ohno's American friends.. that will be a fun episode to watch. ^^;

Well, I heard they're releasing Kujibiki Unbalance as a full 26-episode series with 3 Genshiken OVA episodes all having to do with Ogiue.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to season 2; more Madarame goodness!

This is fantastic news! One of my all-time fave manga and anime. Such an original, loving, but hard-eyed look at otakudom. The scenarios and characters are so right on if you're any kind of otaku it definitely makes you squirm

Where did you hear that? and how and why was that supposed to happen? So volume 8 is the last volume of Genshiken? Was anyone else disappointed with the Manga ending?

Volume 9 is the last manga for genshiken.

The NA manga industry's trend to have the exact same volumes as the equivalent japanese TPB gives me the impression that this will happen, as the original japanese run ran for 9 books.
