Siren 1 is a decent game, but holy damn Siren 2 is awesome. I forgot about it until Corncopp mentioned it. Siren 2 never made it to the states, but I imported it for about $15 a few months ago. I really like how the flow of the game works, where you jump from event to event where different characters are dealing with unusual things.
It's a very creepy game. It's a nice quick way to need a change of pants when you sightjack into a zombie (i forgot the actual name of them in the game) and see yourself through his eyes. Quote:

RE4 was created as "adrenaline horror". They completely pulled this genre out of their @sses. My initial response was, "You crazy Japanese folk." But yeah, the old RE games and all other horror games are the survival ones. After all, ammo is at an all time abundancy in RE4. Every corner you turn, there is ammo to save the day. And herbs. |

RE2> RE4.
Anyway. I prefer the RE series. Though, SH, Siren and Fatal Frame are still high in my book. I love Zombies. Plain and simple. Quote:
By the way, I do believe they are "Shibito" or some **** like that.

, (i wonder what a guy swinging an axe around was doing with shotgun shells) and no zombies. when it comes to resident evil and silent hill i really can't decide.... resident evil is more quick cheap scares but they do them well (one of my most memeroble game experiances is when the zombies reach in through the boarded up windows the second time you walk buy, totally caught me off guard) while silant hill is more creepy and disturbing, and when it comes to story resident evil is a bit more straight forward while silant hill is more open and leaves you to draw conclusions to un-answered or new questions, both good stories. I'd have to say im dead even but ill give the nudge to silent hill for not going all action game on me.... maybe when RE 5 come's out it will restore my faith in the series.

I agree with this completely. RE2 is the best in the series. I still vividly remember the scene where you walk down a catwalk, around a small corner, than look on a TV monitor to see the Tyrant walking down that same catwalk towards you.

There are only two good RE games, CV and RE 4. It is just those two games are better then any of the SH games.

I hate horror games as a genre. I've never liked them because of the ridiculous trend of horrid controls and sloppy level design (that puts key A on the complete opposite side of the area where door A is).
RE4 fixed this immensely. I understand that RE4 is more action than horror in its layout, and that's the way I liked it. It seems to me that every horror game features more backtracking than necessary just so that you'll run all panicky through the scary environments to go back to where you need to be. I will not knock Resident Evil or Silent Hill (the first two in each series) because they were trailblazers for their respective franchises, and that was "the way" to make a scary game. But I think in retrospect, they could have tweaked the controls WAY sooner than they did. Also, I do not accept "it's a horror game, duh" as an excuse for sloppy controls and poor level design. My vote goes to RE, because they at least kill me before I get bored, versus Silent Hill, where I can survive, and then run around bored outta my gord. I have to say though, given another shot at it, I would love to pick up Fatal Frame. THAT game was neat.

Silent Hill was decent until 4, RE has been good since the start and seems to have reached its zenith with 4.
RE's more about the action and gameplay, SH is more about atmosphere. I prefer RE since it's just more fun to play, even if SH is scarier.
