Sleep driving?

Those of you on sleep-related medications may wish to take note of the following:

Quote:
All prescription sleeping pills may sometimes cause sleep-driving, federal health officials warned Wednesday, almost a year after the bizarre side effect first made headlines when Rep. Patrick Kennedy crashed his car after taking Ambien.

It’s a more complicated version of sleepwalking, but behind the wheel: Getting up in the middle of the night and going for a drive — with no memory of doing so.

...the makers of 13 sleep drugs must put warnings on their labels about two rare but serious side effects:

- Sleep-driving, along with other less dangerous “complex sleep-related behaviors” — like making phone calls, fixing and eating food, and having sex while still asleep.
- Life-threatening allergic reactions, as well as severe facial swelling, both of which can occur either the first time the pills are taken or anytime thereafter.

Next, doctors this week will begin getting letters notifying them of the new warnings.
I had to laugh when I read that, having had non-medication-related examples of complex sleep behaviour myself.

So, anyone got any good stories to share? Stuff you did while asleep? Anyone actually taking these meds?

That's uh, kind of, um, weird. I mean, the worst case of sleep walking I've ever done was taking a leak into my sister's closet, only to hear her dress was ruined the next morning. But yeah, that's not totally my fault is it?

But, sleep driving is kind of....out there.

Well relative to driving, I frankly can not sleep while doing it, or if i do feel sleepy I don't see any affect on my driving performance.

Only ever had something happen to me once while asleep, and it was fairly mundane - I got up out of bed, apparently, walked into my living room, and proceeded to sleep on the couch. At least, I think that's what happened, as I don't remember anything, I just went to bed and woke up on the couch.

Wow, so you are a terrible driver all the time, regardless of medication?

Glad I don't live near you O_o.

Actually i'm a great driver, it's just I don't let my sleep interfere with my driving. plus music helps me keep myself awake and alert.

Actually while i'm thinking about it, Sex and Sleep I'm still a virgin, but I like to imagine what things would be like. I see no problems with this, except if the other person has like a snoring problem or Moves around a lot in their sleep.

First off, I'd like to say 'one problem at a time'....

Secondly....WHAT?! Possible snoring and/or moving is the *only* problem you foresee with having sex with a sleeping partner? Wouldn't that be classified as rape, or in the very least, taking advantage of someone? I mean, it's not like you have their consent--unless you count snoring as some sort of backwards-thinking approval. Wow.

I am waiting for the sleep rape/robbery/public indecency defense to spring up in the next few months

A guy I used to live with did something similar. We all came home drunk one evening, and we were all sitting around having a chat before going to bed in his room. There were three of us, and after this guy went to sleep, the other two of us were still talking for a while. He fell asleep with his clothes on I hasten to add.

After a little while, he kinda got up and we weren't sure if he was sleep walking or not. Then he unzipped and started taking a leak. Right onto one of the chairs in his room. Then he started walking around, while still in full flow. He finally ended up letting most of it go into his laundry basket. Man, was that place stinky afterwards. There was no waking him up, and it was the most uncommonly long piss. He was just going for ages.

Yeah, I wish I'd just gone straight to bed.

Anyone you're sleeping in the same bed with is surely someone you have sex with on a fairly regular basis, don't you think? I'm just saying that normally one does not ask for consent every time. Most of the time in a relationship you just assume you have consent and proceed accordingly.
