Need help with the NGE DVD's.

Hi there, I was recomended this site by a mate who used to come here a while back. Said you lot might be able to help. Don't know his name he used here, but on the site I know him from it's "SuperJoeMan79", ring any bells?

Anyway, onto my predicament. Basically, i've just bought this.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/10989...n/Product.html

Now, it says that it's the "complete collection, first time ever for Europe and it's the only COMPLETE collection in the world". But it also says that it only has 4 DC episodes.

Well, the DC DVD's (Resurection and Genesis Reborn) have 6 episodes between them, but I can't find anywhere that says that Genesis Reborn actually has 3 DC episodes or if it has one DC episode and the other 2 just because they wanted to sell them seperatly to make more money.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/15794...n/Product.html

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/15795...n/Product.html

See? Resurection says it has 21-23 and they're DC's. But Genesis Reborn doesn't. And it's like this on every site

So please help, do I need those or not?

Also, I haven't finished watching it yet so please don't include any spoilers, i'm only upto episode 17.

Thanks alot if you can help me, i'd really appreciate it

Relax, you have the Platinum edition, which has not only the DC (or, strictly, New Production Cut) episodes, but also the improved video quality of the Japanese "Renewal" DVD release.

The only New Production Cut episodes are 21-24 (usually denoted by 21' to 24').

The old Resurrection disc has the On Air 21-23 plus the NPC 21'-23'; Genesis Reborn On Air 24-26 and NPC24'. The 25' and 26' labels apply to the two halves of End of Evangelion.

>> i'm only upto episode 17.

Come back later and tell us what you thought. Things are just about to get interesting.

Yes. In the US, the thinpack; rest of the world, whatever deal you can get.

Thanks MR. Tines

Just watched EP 20 and may have to re-watch it. Not only was it very confusing (head's only just stopped spinning, lol) but my 2 brothers came in and were asking loads of questions about what it was I was watching. Which made it very hard to concentrate.

I think I got it all down, I rewatched it on 4X speed with the subs on so that I could skim read the subs on the parts I was unable to hear, and I think i've got ALOT of it worked out.

But unfortunatly some *** has already tried to spoil it for me. A reviewer on amazon basically put the end into his review

But then someone else said the EXACT opposite, so now I don't know what to think because both could happen. But from the looks of things, it's leaning towards the route the amazon guy said

But i'll come back when i'm done to tell you all what I thought. So far it's been amazing. Hope the movies are good too, should be here by Monday

Actually, on the Ressurection DVD, isn't it On-Air 24-26 and NPC 24 and the Video/LD 25-26? <-- the last part often confuses people into thinking there are 6 NPC episodes.

Also, on platinum's NPC 23, we don't get any Reiquarium overlays but you do on Genesis Reborn

Platinum isn't missing any scenes, the only thing I know that is missing are those blurry images overlaying the pan of the Rei clones in the tank in ep23'. You can see all the images here: http://evacommentary.org/episode-23/23_reiquarium.html. If you really want that, you can buy "Genesis Reborn" (On Air 21-23 and NPC 21'-23') along with Platinum.

That's messed up, she's 14, 14!

That's only legal in Holland for crying out loud.

Plus she's not real

And also, thanks for telling me that there's Rei clones

GAH, Sorry about that. I mentioned reiquarium before but the person's response gave me the impression that he didn't know what I was talking about so I had to be a little more descriptive. That and I'm too used to never using spoiler tags in this sub-forum.

Sincere apologies.

It's ok, it's not really that shocking compared to some of the other stuff you learn, and it explains Rei's personallity a bit more. After episode 20, I don't think much would shock me about EVA now.

I mean when I read it I didn't think "OMFG, there's clones?!?!?!?" I thought "hmm, clones, I see", lol.

A bit of indifference there, no shock or surpirse, but no "I knew it" either, lol.

If you want to get REALLY strict about the terminology, in Japan they just call them the Video & LD versions.

"New production cut" (新作カット) refers to totally new cuts that they made for those episodes -- and DEATH, too. The cuts that were just revisions of old ones are technically (I think?) called something else -- the storyboards mark them with 再 (re-), anyway, while the NPCs are marked with 新 (new).

But nevermind that. I just want to make sure it's all on record. ::p

but also the improved video quality of the Japanese "Renewal" DVD release.
Taken down a notch, and interlaced -- not that most people will notice.

So it seems.

Stupidly, the Video/LD 25 & 26 are labeled "Directors' Cut". (Go ADV.)
