Beat The vandel buster Dubtitles?

I just picked up beat the vandel buster....i was watching it on my gfs dvd player and it seems that the entire show is dubtitled...now my gf dosnt have that great of a dvd player and when you try to change the tracks through the menu there is this weird long pause when you do it...so i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem with the dvd....and i was hoping maybe there is a subtitle track of the show that just isnt poping up on this player.

From everything I've heard about Illumitoon I sure wouldn't doubt it.

Why do you think it's dubtitled? Does the dialog from the dub and the dialog from the subtitles match exactly? That would be my guess to why you're asking. Just curious...

Illumitoon sucks, they even disappoint dub fans. I havn't watched it yet but looking at the cast it sounds like the voices would be great, but then I read this at ANN:

"However, the English version has completely been changed. The original music has been removed, from the opening theme to all the instrumentals. In its place is generic electronica, hard rock, and sweeping melodies worthy of a Jeep commercial. (Though, to be fair, the original Japanese soundtrack is bland, tinkly, and somewhat reminiscent of an old video game.) Why they would make those changes is a little uncertain."

Have we not learned anything from FUNi's DBZ? Don't change the music because its not necessary.

I don't know if the dialog was edited & changed all around but it could be...Which would be very bad when watching it subbed as well.

"Luckily, there's the Japanese track, right? Not so much. All the music and dialogue is intact, but everything's been dubtitled. So there you have it. A disc that's designed to appeal to kids, that no parent would buy"

^ That's kinda depressing. For once though these new company experiments hasn't ruined one of my favorite shows (Dragonball/FUNi & Slam Dunk/Toei). But I'm sad to see Beat get such a bad release. I knew things were iffy when I saw them going down the same path as Toei did with having tons of release dates right away. It all felt very rushed and now looking at the final product, I guess I wasn't too far off. Nobody likes changes, nobody wants dubtitles. Is that really so hard to comprehend that it's been such a common occurrence? Which of their shows did they change the opening into a rap song?

Also, did Illumitoon really think they were going to make a substantial profit from Beet the Vandel Buster, Bt'x and AM Driver? These weren't even popular fansubs.

Ahhhh, I was actually looking forward to this. Illumitoon looks like they are starting out bad.

Until there is actual confirmation, I must ask for specific examples of this show being dubtitled. Otherwise, zero-divide, your claim is too vague.

Someone at ANN has confirmed it. Its pretty easy to spot dubtitles if they completely match the English track & don't match the Japanese track.

That doesn't really say anything, though. He says it's been dubtitled, but doesn't give any examples or say that the dialog matches word for word with the English dub. Perhaps there's more discussion in the forums, but I don't have time to check right now.

He also seems to have forgotten that Illumitoon said back when they first started up that they had intentions of getting this on tv. They haven't yet, but that is why the dub is edited the way it is. The company was founded by old Funimation employees who are following the standard method of dubbing anime for a children's audience. Expectations for this release were (or should have been) low to start.
