Jewish characters

Are there any Jewish characters in anime or manga? I cannot think of any modern day ones. Only of the characters in episodes of Superbook/The Flying House/any Biblical anime.

Well, considering Judaism pretty much doesn't exist in Japan, it's not surprising that to see few very Jews in the anime. The only one that comes to mind is the Fullmetal Alchemist movie: The Conqueror of Shambala where our world equivalent of King Bradley was Fritz Lang who was based on a real lfe person.

I don't think there are any. I mean there aren't many Jews left in the world.

Do magic users who end up summoning forth spells that involve Stars of David (there's probably a better name for that thing, but I'm not savvy enough, so I dunno) count? If so, the main in Silent Mobius would count...

Of course, that could just be a visual gimmick and not mean anything, as well.

You better be scared, because I'm one of them (though I was raised Catholic, one side of my family comes from a Jewish background). And we have all ready permeated all levels of your society.

Full Metal Alchemist: Conquerors of Shambala...

At the end of the tv series, Ed ends up in Munich, Germany Circa 1923 ... where much of the movie takes place... nazis, a gypsy and at least one character who outright comes out and says he is jewish... just watched it friday night... it was awesome... though having only seen about half - 3/4 of the tv series its given me a bit of a spoiler for the tv series.

Benny in Black Lagoon is Jewish. When he said that as a response to Dutch, I thought that was hilarious for some reason.

Nope. I am counting either people who practice Judaism, or Hebrew people.

As mentioned, there's Fritz Lang from the FMA movie.

Also, there's the Tezuka Osamu anime "In the Beginning", but it doesn't appear to have any Japanese language release in the US... ><;;

If you want to count manga, then the manga "Adolf" by Osamu Tezuka has jews in it. The manga claims that Adolf Hitler (who is a character in the story) is a jew.

I'm wondering if that German guy from Cyborg 007 is a jew because of his looks (though this is just a vague and unfounded assumption).

Yeah, I'm wondering why aren't there a lot of jews in anime. You'd think Japanese people would find meeting Ashkenazis versus Serpardic jews to be fasacinating because of the striking phyisical differences.

There's a lot of jews in my city though they tend to live in the most expensive neighborhoods. My university is filled with them.
