Hunter X Hunter anime?

Has there ever been any word of Hunter X Hunter being licensed? I mean, Flame of Recca was on DVD shortly after the manga was translated.

Absolutely none dude. I'm not too excited about Viz most likely getting their hands on it though. FUNi is always another possibility. I guess we'll just have to wait it out. I'm personally more concerned about if the manga will ever continue rather then the anime being licensed at this point.

Oh, right. Yoshihiro Togashi is on sick leave again, isn't he? Then again...I picked that up from Wikipedia so it might as well be an uninformed guess from me.

There is no clear cut answer for the long delay. He's had many problems in the past with his back etc, but the details have been very vague this time around. In Japan the term illness is used differently. Sometimes it's used for something as little as a hand sprain.

I was just recently discussing the HXH manga with a friend, and even though I told him to start buying it, I realized that I had no idea how far Viz would go with it. It may be best for Viz to stop translating at the manga equivalent of the last episode of the GIFinal OVA (with chapter 185, assuming that occurs at the end of a volume). It would certainly suck if they brought over the following volumes while the arc remains incomplete.

As for the anime though, I really wish I knew why it hasn't been licensed yet.

Man, I can't believe it's almost a year since Togashi's hiatus...

Well in any case, that's all too bad. Of what I've seen on the Hunter X Hunter (not that far, I just stopped during the Hunter's exam because the manga was translated), I would say it's one of the series where I can almost say I think the anime is just as good as the manga, and, at times, even surpasses it in enjoyment.

I've only kept up with the Viz releases, but I'm concerned about the future of HxH as well. I knew he had been on hiatus, but i hadn't realized it was for that long. If he does continue, I hope the art is back to the quality it was in the early volumes. I read volume 11 the other day and I could tell that the art quality had already gone down from the early volumes. I hear that some of his recent chapters look like sketches and no other author would be able to get away with what he was putting out.

I know he didn't finish Yu Yu Hakusho either. Did he finish Level E?

His JUMP releases, the ones used for scanlations, ALWAYS look like sketches, but when they are released in tankoubon form they get cleaned up and looked much better. That's the better version they use for the French version for exemple and it's still the same art style since the begining.

I believe he was forced to end YYH due to fading interest. Kinda like what happened with Shaman King :/

Believe me, you really are going to be amazed. Hunter x Hunter has one of the most captivating storyline in this industry. It's a shame though that the serie it's still not licensed in the U.S.

Really? How anybody could lose interest in Yu Yu Hakusho is unbelievable, i only wished he made more.

As for Hunter X Hunter i cant understand why it hasnt been licensed yet, surely it would be like printing money.
