Three Series

I've been an anime fan for some time now, but for the first time I'm going to see three of the most classic anime series in existence: Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and Trigun (I guess Trigun isn't really that classic, but a lot of people like it). By the way, I'm getting them all because it's my birthday.

Now my question is this:

I believe Trigun is just the 26 episode anime series, and I don't think there is a movie at all.

Escaflowne is the 26 episode anime series as well, I think. I know there is a movie, but I heard it was just a retelling of the series.

Now, Bebop is the one I'm not sure of. I know there is a movie, bit is it a retelling of the series, an ending to the series, or just a seperate adventure entirely?

Could someone confirm what I need to get the full experience of each series?

the bebop movie is a completely different thing entirely, maybe a really long episode ^^ great movie altogether though, as expected from bebop. I like trigun too, but not that much.... i dont consider it a classic, but its just a 26 ep series, i'd reccomend soemthing like rurouni kenshin over it, but that show is L-O-N-G lol

The Bebop movie fits in between Episode 23 and 24, chronologically. Thereabouts. It's a long episode, basically. Good one, too.

I don't think these titles should be called "classics", but I DO feel they are definitely "must sees" though. Either way:

Yes, Trigun is just the 26 episode series.

Escaflowne is a 26 episode series, and the movie is a re-envisioning. Not a retelling per se, a whole new interpretation. I saw the movie before the series, but it's probably best to watch the series first.

Bebop is a 26 episode series with a movie that is basically a longer episode; it would take place before the final events of the series, but you should just watch it after the series, not between episodes.

Most people I talk to say to watch the Escaflowne TV series first, then watch the movie. I saw the movie first and it made me want to get the series. I actually havent finished the series, but I've watched over half of it and loved it.

They are FAR from the "most classic anime series in existence".

I'v seen those many times & I liked Escaflowne TV the most, then Trigun & Cowboy Bebop last.

Escaflowne is great, but I reccomend watching it subbed. The dub was poorly done, but not horrid like 4Kids dubs.

Of course, that's not taking into account the dub shown on Fox Kids. Believe me, it was a mess that put most 4kids dubs to shame.

As for the series in question, I wouldn't necessarily call them classic. Sure, I'd recommend getting Bebop and Escaflowne, but Trigun is just WAY too overrated. You'd be better off getting Outlaw Star in place of Trigun; it's cheaper, and it has better storytelling.

yeha the esca dub is pretty bad, especialy Dilandau's voice, god... it gives me a headache. but its still a great series, if you can stand to watch the dub(if necessary)

Trigun is overrated, i watched it and afterwards wonder what the big effing deal was. Wolfwood was cool, but wtf else was so great?

but as always i highly reccomend Bebop.

Cowboy Bebop is what I'd call extremely overrated, not Trigun. Cowboy Bebop has got such insane fame, much like Evangelion many fans call it the "best anime ever made" Come on..

I never said Bebop was the 'best ever,' just that it was something I'd recommend watching at least once. Obviously not everyone's going to like it, and some might even grow out of it after a period of time.

But yes, overexaggerating fans is a problem for any anime, not just Bebop and Eva. If you remember, I myself was one of them back when I first joined AN.

Of those three, Escaflowne is the only one that I actually liked.

Thanks for the replies. Instead of watching the dub then the sub like I normally do, I may just watch the sub of esca.

I've been watching anime with "kill 'em all" endings lately, so I think this will be a good break. Though, when I finish all 3 series 1 of 2 things will happen:
A. I'll be really worn out with anime and not want to watch anymore for a while.
B. I'll be on an anime-high and need a new series immediatley.

not exactly classics -.-, maybe as far as american pop goes, they are really good.

Watch the Bebop movie after the series.. thats how I did it and I didn't regret it. The movie doesn't have much to do with the series except characters(why it is a good idea to watch the series first) and exposition.

Alright, one more question. Escaflowne fans, would this be the version I would want? Like uncut bilingual with all special features (I know the movie isn't with it)? Thanks.
