Macross Plus!!!

Its pretty good & the music is some of the best ever(Yoko Kanno of course).

I diddn't watch much of Macross II when it aired on TV because the dub was horrid, one of the worse. The anime diddn't seem that special.

I never seen the movie, I say go with the OVA. I guess the reason for me is that the movie is sub only while the OVA is sub & dub and I watch it dubbed.

Plus is the better OVA, but if your are a Gearhead like me, Macross II has much better mecha designs IMO

Macross Plus - By all means YES!

Macross II - Don't waste your money! And I'm a Macross fan saying this . . . .

MII

I loved the fact that the hero was a reporter. They should make more anime with reporters.

Plus was only interesting when the rape discussions took place.

Yeah, I'd agree with Macross Plus being the more memorable series. Generally, the movie version is considered the definitive release, since it includes an improved ending (Kawamori, as well as a lot of fans, was displeased by the original).

I'd go with Macross Plus. It's by far the better show. I don't dislike Macross II like most others but it's pretty average and I don't think it added anything to the Macross universe. You won't be missing anything if you don't watch it.

Yeah, in some ways Macross II is more of a "classic Macross" series than Plus, but that might well be the problem: Its' plot is in many ways just a rehash of the original's except less memorable.
