Final Fantasy or Legend of Zelda

Which is the better series?
I say Final Fantasy, even though I grew up with Zelda, I can tell FF beats it.

Story- FinalFantasy-No brainer
Graphics- Final Fantasy- with the cgi, it just beats zelda
Sound- Zelda- Great soundeffects and creepy dungeon backround music
Music- Final Fantasy- Beautiful in every game
Gameplay- Zelda- Alot of equipment, crazy dungeons, overworld map, and lots more
Characters- Final Fantasy- Personalities and voices
Lasting- FinalFantasy- 60+ hours on each game and many sidequests

I'm going with Zelda. Gameplay is most important to me, especially if you're going to make a game 60+.

Hard to say.

OOT is my all time favourite game, but since OOT I haven't really liked a Zelda game.

FF i'm new to it, played 1 and 2, loved 1 and hated 2.

Actually, he or she has a point. For many, including me, there are like apples and oranges in that both are good and satisfy different tastes. Neither is inherently 'better' but are simply subject to, like many other things, preference.

In this case, my preference depends entirely on what I 'feel' like playing at the moment. In other words, I find neither better than the other, in qualitative terms.

That is, of course, my personal opinion. Others may find, according to their opinions, that one is distinctly superior to the other.

I can say the same thing about Zelda XD.

I say Zelda because the fun-factor is way higher while FF is mostly, "I have to beat this boss so I know what happenes to Aeris!" I ya catch my drift.

Playing FF is like reading a book whereas playing Zelda is like actually being active (be it playing a sport, or beating the living snot out of somebody). With that said... these two aren't two that should be compared.

Yep, I'm going to have to agree here.

I have played all the Zeldas published by Nintendo (except minish cap and four swords), and the only three I couldn't get into were 2, Majora's mask, and Wind Waker. 2 didn't interest me, and I only got a taste of MM and WW (though I plan to play WW soon-ish). The original is legendary (no pun intended) and I will forever love it, though I never beat it...always got stuck on level 7. Link to the Past is arguably my favorite game ever. Link's Awakening was the first one in the series I could get into. OOT rocked.

The "Oracles" games are both really cool, and it's the first time when Nintendo's multi-color series ploy worked on me. After all those stupid pokemon games (that are basically the same), and all the Mega man Battle Network games (which came after Oracle of ages & seasons, I know), I was surprised to have two zelda games, released simultaneously, of two different colors, that were actually distinct! (sorry for the run-on ). It is totally worth getting them both.

I've played FF4-X2. FF4 was good, but I lost interest halfway through. FF5 on PS1 was too buggy, and is the only version I've played. FF6, 7, and the first 3/4 of 8 were great. The last 1/4 of 8, and 9 were less than thrilling, but still lots of fun. FFX was a total disappointment for some reason, and don't get me started on X-2.

so, to say in essay form what rayndeon said, both games have their ups and downs...but I think this gamer is going with Zelda

Zelda, hands down. I still play it(the original NES version), on my micro. Stands the test of time much better than a majority of games from its time.

Final fantasy is fun. Zelda is alright, but the fans of zelda are crazier. That puts me off.

Zelda.
Unlike FF, every single Zelda has been phenominal. Never have they disappointed me.
Zelda also has far superior gameplay.
And while I'd say FF has better character development, Zelda has the better characters (Link/Zelda)
Story, FF probably wins that.
Music can go either way.

But Zelda overall for sure. Although FF is probably my #2 series in gaming. I used to rank FF higher, but while Zelda continues to impress me FF lately has left a mediocre taste in my mouth. I'm looking forward far more to Zelda: PH than say FF3 and Zelda:TP than say FF12.

*Edit: And I played Zelda 1 a few years prior to ever playing my first FF (4). So maybe thats part of the reason.

i haven't played much of OOT, but to me, FF6 trumps it in terms of epicicity (that a word?)

plus i've been a fan of FF for as long as i can remember. the only Zelda i've enjoyed is Link to the Past

I'm just started playing Final Fantasy VII recently because I got a hold of the PC version.
