What does their forum have that other forums don't have? What's the draw? What can we get there that we can't get anywhere else?

I checked it out, and I didn't see anything that made me say, "Wow! Finally! A place where I can find [whatever]!" My only reaction was "Wow. Yet another one of these invision forums with the same generic threads."

Suggestion: Your friends should look to differentiate their forum from the mass of similar fora out there. Maybe with the right draw, it might get a quicker start. Just a thought.

These free forums never go anywhere special, I mean just look at elite hunting. Oh pardon me, I didn't say that. All these forums do it advertise, advertise, advertise. And advertising.

I'm not criticizing you for helping out. I'm just pointing something out that you could maybe tell your friends. Maybe they could help THEMSELVES out by making a forum that had a legitimate draw. As it is, the only real point of the site is "come hang with us". That's fine, except that I don't know them and haven't the faintest idea why I'd want to hang with them.

It's their forum. They need to get on the ball and convince other people why they're so great to hang with, you know?

I was thinking more of that other one.... AnimeLessons? That actually had a good founding premise, a positive focus and the patronage of a lot of the AN veterans. But then it dried up because.... well... nothing much happened. Sorry, EoP.

Ouch, that cut deep Dessy. Especially since not every Invisionfree forum is crap *looks solemnly towards link in her siggy* oh man....

I suggest you guys just link to your forum in you signature. More people will see it that way, so maybe that will help get more traffic to your site. I have linked my forum in my siggy, and it does help (well....not a lot at first, but still ). Good luck to you!

Sorry though, I don't think I'll be joining anymore forums for awhile. Have my hands full just trying to be here and mine at the same time Haha....

^ Don't read too much into that. It was my reaction to the OP's friends' forum, not ALL invision forums. Yours has a lot of good info on it, and it's probably the best anime&writers' forum I've seen. It's a pity it doesn't seem to get the traffic it deserves.

Yeah, for example, AN is so big because it's been around forever, and they've had a consitant product (their store) to keep them active.

For example, the Shin-Getter forum draw in over a hundred members, which of itself isn't too impressive, but we have a pretty good frequenter-idler ratio. Reason being is because we appeal to a very small and dedicated niche (Ideon and other mech fans) and we have a consitant product (fansubs) to draw them in.

GOod luck to you though.

That hurts so much coming from you.

So far there are almost 100 people who would disagree. Let's see you do better.

tokyo_master- Just get your friends to join. Even if it isn't huge, it's more fun with just people you actually like there.

I can do better. My Invision Free forum has 300 Members. Which IS pretty good considering we've been around for a year.

Well.... don't take that "100 members" figure too seriously. AnimeLessons had more than 100 (I think), but it closed down due to inactivity and was dead LONG before that. AN has only 23,800 registered users, but nowhere near that many people post here. EH is a brand new forum, and already at least a quarter of the people don't post there. There's just not a huge volume of traffic there, outside of the chat threads.

I was hoping the SD&D forum there would take off, but even on dry tinder topics, you have to wait days for the flames to catch.
