Yes, manga is black & white. But, there is ani-manga which is color, where the panels look just like the anime, but go in a comic format. The only title I know of for those is Inuyasha, but maybe someone else knows some others.
But reading it in b&w is fun, you can imagine what colors clothing and items can be, and more.

Stigma by Kazuya Minekura is done entirely in color (it's absolutely beautiful too, just for the record), and I'm sure there are a small handful of other titles as well, but generally speaking, manga is a black and white medium. You might get a fully colored page or two at the beginning of a lot of graphic novels, but the vast majority of the comic will be in black and white.
That's just the way it is. They tend to "color" in screen tones rather than, well, color, probably due partially to time constraints (as many stories are serialized in weekly or monthly magazines), and due more so because it's the generally accepted style of manga. If you absolutely must have color, then you may want to stick with anime, but while it doesn't sound that good in theory, the black and white is generally done well enough to make up for its lack of color, so it won't come off as flat or lifeless.

Just get used to it.
Thats no reason to not read a comic... Plenty of the best American comics are B+W, Sin City, any collected form of newspaper comics, Maus, R.Crumb. etc... |

It took me a little while to get used to, but I love it now.
Hayao Miyazaki's movies have been adapted into animanga, so you might want to check out Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away. I personally really enjoyed Howl's. |

Well, there's Yu-Gi-Oh! the Movie (I think that's what it is called), if you're into that kind of stuff. But really, just get used to black and white. You'll find that what it lacks in color it makes up for in detail.

One thing is also how the publishers deal with it. A good amount of manga is made weekly or biweekly in Japan and there is no where near enough time for 16-20 page chapters with full color. Most of hte time in the cases of those manga, if something is in color it's either a very special moment or just a volume opening or something.

Back in black
|
usually in the first one or two pages, when introducing a chapter, some publishers do them in color.
But for the most part, it's black and white babe. If you don't like it, then go back to reading comics. |

So, to echo what everyone else is saying, 99.9% of all manga are published in black and white.

As was mentioned, some books have a few color pages, but many companies like Viz and Tokyopop tend to just print them in black and white, which sucks. But the main thing to realize here is that manga comes out a lot quicker than American comics. Many serialized series will have a new installment every week. So there really isn't much time to make everything in color. Also, the black and white aspect are what makes manga so much more cheaper. Do you really want to spend $4 for maybe 30 pages of full color images where about a thrid of it is ads? Ok, there's not that many ads, but there are a lot in every comic.
