I am not sure where this should go. Anyway I have been recently rewatching Cardcaptor Sakura. I have a question about one of the relationships. Okay Sakura and Toyomo's (sp?) mothers are cousins right? And if so what are S and T? I know that If somones cousin has a child then that child is that persons 2nd cousin. So T's mom and S are second cousins. But what type of cousin would you call S and T in relation to each other?

I'm not sure about their mothers being related, but if so, that'd make them second cousins.

I thnk T and S's moms are first cousins so T and S are 2nd cousins

I was thinking the same thing when watching it, it never says they are cousins.

I don't know if it was in the anime (since I haven't watched enough of it to know), but Nadeshiko (Sakura's mom) and Sonomi (Tomoyo's mom) were cousins in the manga. So...that would make Sakura and Tomoyo second cousins.

That makes two of us. Without watching the anime again, I'm not sure if it was mentioned. I thought they were portrayed as being best friends in the anime, but then I could be mistaken.

They were portrayed as being related in the anime. They shared a grandfather, there was an episode later in specifically about Sakura meeting him and lots of family secrets. Though I admit I can't remember if Sonomi ever said specifically they were cousins, even though we know they are from the manga. It was one of those things I took for granted, since I was already aware of it going into the series.

They are most definately cousins in the manga. If it's unmentioned in the anime it's perhaps a deliberate oversight?

In the Japanese version when Sakura first meets Tomoyo's mom they don't tell Sakura bout being related. In fact I don't even think that Tomoyo realy knows. But T's mom and S's dad had a conversation and it is said then that T's mom is S's mom's cousin. It is the episode with the flower card.

I don't think ethier [in the anime] knows. Which is odd, why does it have to be like its some secret?

I think that's arguable, personally. In the manga, it seems a bit more certain, to my displeasure.

After the incident with the Flower card, in the manga Tomoyo says she loves Sakura alot. Sakura responds saying she loves her too. Tomoyo responds, "Sakura-chan, I think we're talking about different kinds of love..." In the anime, everything is the same, except the suggestive line at the end is non-existant.

But especially if we're talking anime, I don't think either way is certain. For one, Tomoyo's still pretty young, so even if she thinks she loves Sakura "in that way", it may not really be that way (remember what

Yukito said to Sakura late in the series about her being in love with him. She thought she was, but it was more like different emotions of her's making her feel like she was in love

). And more so, she never has any objections to Sakura loving Yukito

, whether in front of her or behind her back. In fact, at times she even tries to arrange it so she can be together with the person. I think the way Tomoyo acts toward Sakura is just her personality. They're best friends, and very close, and have been friends for a long time. So it doesn't seem all that strange that she'd act differently toward her (not to say that this would be normal for anyone, but remember, her personality is like that). Most of the time when she gets all swoony, it's because she likes to film Sakura or have her wear the costumes she makes. I think she gets super excited over having Sakura wear the stuff she makes the effort to design, and to film her in it. That's just who she is. ^^

She's very much like her mother, in love and obsessive, at times bordering on creepy. But she's the epitome of good, wanting what makes Sakura happiest. Soluzar - Just let me go check... it's actually not as far in as I thought. Episode 16, then they touch on it again in epsiode 54.

I always thought the reason Tomoyo and Sakura weren't close as cousins, or even really aware of it, was because of Sakura's mother's marriage. The entire family seemed to be against it. Though Touya does seem to know more about who Sonomi and their grandfather are. So perhaps it just came about after her mother's death, as her mother's family wouldn't talk to her father, and as a result lost touch with the children.
