Next anime to get ?

Hey all,

I've recently finished watching my anime collection, and now I need something new, something I haven't seen before, and something that will touch my soul, and have me begging for more the whole time I am watching it.
Here is a list of previously watched/owned anime titles. I'd prefer a series where there is some sort of romance involved, theyre my favourites, as long as said before, it gets to me etc.

(in no particular order).
D.N. Angel - Thought was a little slow at first, but got quite interesting
Raxephon - Took me a little to get into it, but was great and mind boggling
Rurouni Kenshin - Although I haven't completed my set yet, I have kinda moved on, but will eventually go back to it no doubt.
Love Hina - Great!, watched it twice through, and enjoyed it thoroughly both times
Gantz - Unusual, but great
Full Metal Panic - Great, really enjoyed it
Full Metal Panic TSR - Great also!
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu - Great, one of the few anime that have made me laugh and enjoy it at the same time!
Full Metal Alchemist - Great story!
Hellsing - Very interesting
Chobits - Loved it
Fruits Basket - Really enjoyed it!
Trigun - Different, but enjoyable in the end
Wolfs Rain - Fantastic
Grave of the Fireflies - VERY sad, but VERY glad I watched it
Initial D, Stage 1,2,3 & 4 - Enjoyed the whole series
Ai Yori Aoshi - Very good, loved it alot!!
FLCL - Was okay to watch, but nothing overly great, glad I watched it though
Vampire Hunter D - Great
Ragnarok the Animation - Not too bad, I quite enjoyed it
Samurai Champloo - Really enjoyed it
Elfen Lied - VERY VERY VERY good, I really got into this, I think its fantastic
NGE - Great

Your help is appreciated anime fans!!

Glad to see you enjoyed throughly nearly everything you watched.
You could try another Ghibli film like Whisper of the Heart or Mononke Hime(Miyazaki), they're great. Perhaps Vandread or Eureka 7 for a newer mecha title(though new Super remakes seem to be a trend.)
For Classic mecha....go for First Gundam(series or movies, look them up) or Space Runaway IDEON (The latter via fansubs, by the awesome group Shin-getter.) Look up Matsumoto's works as well in the following link.
You could look these up or look for titles on your own with the directory on
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php
With some of those titles(Gantz, Fruits Basket, Rouroni KenshinElfen Lied), their stories are expanded in quite more detail in their orginal manga forms, you may want to consider picking them up(*well, at least RK & Fruits Basket, Gantz & EL are only avalible in scanlations currently. The EL manga though, from what I hear, is a bit different in some aspects, one little one being Nana's hair's purple, but that's merely cosmetic)
The Trigun manga goes in a bit of a diffrent direction, but I personally consider both great, even with the manga being hard to follow at times.
Good luck finding new works.

i'd say mushishi but it's more like a calm horror type anime so i dont know if you would like it .
beck is good too , it's a bunch of kids trying to succeed in the music industry besides it also has a little romance in it.
if you liked fullmetal panic and trigun than you would like hunter x hunter too cuz the story is great and a shounen type anime like naruto but definetely more amusing , realistic and adult-like.

You could go for Gilgamesh, I found it boring but alot of people loved the gothic and dark styled artwork. Try to check out Get Backers as well, It's basically a fast paced action series with great characters. Finally make sure you watch Golden Boy, It is by far my favorite series of all time. It is a perverted comedy series that I think anyone will enjoy. Plus it's only 6 episodes.

See all of the other Studio Ghibli films, especially Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Whisper of the Heart is also supposed to be fantastic (I've owned this for a while, I REALLY need to see this soon).
I also really recommend Naruto and Inuyasha. They're long but well worth it. People complain their hearts out about the filler but to be honest it's never gotten old for me.
Tsubasa Chronicle is another must (at least for what I've seen). It isn't out in the US yet, but whether you download it or wait for its US release, go for it.
Someday's Dreamers is another must if you love slice of life drama stories. I found it very touching. Beautiful anime.
Haibane Renmei was also very interesting. It had its pros and cons with me, but overall I liked it, and it makes you think. Another great drama.
Saikano is a fantastic story of love enduring even through the worst circumstances. Only be warned, it is VERY depressing.

Why has no one mentioned Berserk? Alas! EVERYONE should be made by law to watch/read this anime/manga. Say it. Berserk. Say it over and over again. It becomes a chant. Berserk. Berserk. Eventually it becomes furious. Berserk. Berserk! BERSERK! That is the true sign of this series's greatness; it drives you mad and leaves you craving for more. Like sex really. No. How DARE I compare sex to Berserk!? Berserk is much better than sex! You know that's a sign of supremacy.

So go, good soul. Go and become Berserk like the rest of us.

BERSERK!

Watch Now and Then Here and There. If you want an anime that will 'touch' or 'move' your soul, this is it.

Since you like a little romance thrown in with a good series, I'm going to add Planetes to the list, followed by The Place Promised In Our Early Days.

Oh man, how did I forget that one? I highly recommend this one. It's one of my all time favorite movies (anime and non-anime). A little slower paced but tops on drama and romance. ^^

Looking over your list, I think you should watch Angelic Layer next.

Koi Kaze is an interesting romance anime. It's a serious type of drama, with what what is in my opinion, a superb execution. One of the best entertainment pieces I have seen(regardless of animated or live action).

I think you may like it, as while reading your previously viewed anime list, I virtually thought the same thing about almost every title you listed, with the exception of Ai Yori Aoishi. I did not like this title because it never resolved ANYTHING to do with the primary plot.

Well again, thankyou all for the help !

I have watched Now and then, here and there.. found it to be reasonably entertaining, but it didn't move me as much as I had hoped, I hoped for something with a deeper emotional connection.

I have been lacking in the anime lately, I've gotten hold of the latest Naruto (which REALLY needs to get back onto the original plot asap... the fillers are just becoming too much, yet somewhat entertaining) and Bleach (starting to get interesting a little again...thankfully!). I also watched High School Girls... I found it to be quite humerous and time fullfilling, but nothing other than mild entertainment. I also have been watching Utawarerumono... I love this series, but can no longer get a hold of the episodes as it's apparently licensed now ? Just when it was starting to get very interesting too...

Currently looking into Tsubasa Chronicle that was mentioned earlier and will let you know what I think of this later

you should try:

Tokyo Godfathers or Millenium Actress both are A+, and very emotional, with a good message. (both are sub only though, in case you don't like that)

also, Saikano (sad but great)......
oh, and 3X3 eyes almost made me cry, you should try that too. (it kind of an action/drama)
