Oh no, they totally are, and I'm going to see this. I just can't see it being legitimately good. Option #2 isn't a bad thing at any rate, I watch tons of those types of movies with friends of mine and we have a great time with them. We watched the Last Airbender this past Friday and had a blast with it (We also watch a lot of Asylum movies, old direct to video monster movies, those sorts of things.)

I got more of a Giant Robo / Mazinger feel than an Evangelion vibe from the trailer.

I think it'll be an incredibly stupid movie, and I mean that in a positive way. It's a popcorn flick. It'll be better than a Michael Bay picture. I'll set my expectations to zero and enjoy the big punchy robot fun.

It really can't be any worse than Battleship, and I enjoyed MST3King that.

It did annoy me somewhat to hear GlaDOS so blatantly bastardized in the trailer, but I imagine the AI's lines will be funnier in the movie if that's what they're shooting for.

I've seen the TV series, movies, the first 2 of the new movies, read a number of volumes of the manga, and in no way am I reminded of Evangelion other then vaguely a giant mech like thing battling a giant monster like thing. It's like comparing Top Gun to Macross Plus, both have fighter pilots, a rivalry, a woman, but would anyone say they they are the same? Okay, not the best example, but you can relate almost any story to another. I'm not mad at anyone for saying it, but the Eva statements read like knee-jerk reactions.

There's always a chance for this movie to be a hot mess, but I will reserve judgment till I see it with my own eyes, & thus far the trailer pleases me.

I cringe when I hear "teenagers with attitude". Which reminds my why I never watched these shows when I was younger. However, I did get a kick out of picking out what was original to Japan & what was not when channel surfing. FYI, it was pretty easy.

Oh wait, I already did, and it was awesome. Too bad Lord Zedd wasn't the primary villain. Best MMPR villain ever.

This is one of those movies that could be really cheesy and dumb and awesome at the same time. It could be the new Godzilla: Final Wars.

I have to admit the potential for that is there. Guess we won't know for sure until the movie is released.
