Don't be Power Strangers, Official Sentai Thread!
This thread is for the discussion and appreciation of Sentai shows everywhere. Fight on with your Burning Spirit!
But what is Sentai? Sentai is literally the power ranger shows you used to watch as a kid. A team of superheroes wearing matching outfits take on a myriad of costumed enemies who may or may not have an evil overlord presiding over them. Over the series they learn to be stronger, faster and more trusting of the power of the human heart, and it's bloody brilliant. But what shows are there to watch? There are a lot of sentai shows released in japan. This isn't suprising, as the origins of Sentai go back to the 70's. What kind you want to watch is basically determined on what time period you like or what style of sentai you liked. The basic two shows are the Go-X Rangers. Which are the X amount of people teaming up to fight evil and the Kamen Rider series, which is about one insect themed superhero fighting evil mostly by himself. Currently airing sentai shows that I know of are, Unofficial sentai Akibarangers: Wherein an otaku, a fujoshi and a highschool girl team up to fight to become official sentai rangers, with a secret base inside a sentai cafe. It's a parody of Sentai shows in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueYsJWTSBQ4 Go-busters: Wherein a team of heroes trained when they were children team up with their giant robots to defeat the evil mechanical virus messiah. I haven't seen this yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZs6yZWM478
