This is a very interesting P2P MMO being released by Funcom.. I remember hearing about this game a while back, its a shame I don't know too much about it though But what I do know is it is now in Beta and is releaseing June 12th..

What I like about this game is its so different then other MMOs.. Theres no class systems, no levels, and the setting is modern day.. I guess pretty much every myth and urban legend exists like zombies, dragons, vampires, ect and they are running loose around the world.. You can join up with one of three factions (Templars, Iluminatis, Dragons) and romp around an open-world.. The game also has voiced cut-scenes with your character and takes a interesting approach to story-telling for a MMO.. And the PvP looks pretty cool, guess it'll be faction vrs faction or something of that nature.

I guess if you pre-order right now you get access to the weekend betas, a name reserve tag, some basic freebie items, and up to 4 days early access before launch.. I plan on pre-ordering it later this week to atleast give the beta a shot to see if its something I wanna purchase or not.

I was waiting to get into the beta for this for MONTHS, and I finally got in... pretty much right when Diablo III was coming out.

Anyway, I'm interesting in the game because the best MMO I've ever played was Age of Conan (Funcom), and I like the other games by the Ragnar Tornquist guy (Longest Journey, Dreamfall). I wish it would have been The Longest Journey 3, but ah well.

Maybe when the Diablo III craze dies off I'll check out this game.

Tried one beta weekend and I have to say, I'm surprised. The combat was pretty fun and it's very interesting that there is no class system whatsoever, only the abilites and weapons you wanna use so you can make your character however you want.

I'm gonna keep my eye on The Secret World.

My biggest worry is that with the story quests the game will become a 'single player' MMO like SWTOR.. Did you see this happenin' during the beta?

I don't know, this game just looks like it has so much RP potential and the PvP system from what I read sounds really cool.. Defiantly wanna check out the next beta.

I can't say much for the story as I didn't progress so much but I can atleast say it was a bit TOR-ish but with actual movements during the cutscenes like someone actually walking around in a room and then sit down in a chair.

LOL yeah I always thought it was weird in TOR how there was no movement in the cut-scenes I don't know, when TOR first launched I thought having story in a MMO was the best thing since sliced bread but as I got toward end-game I noticed it took a way more from the MMO then what it gave.. Sure, it was nice that the quests were voice acted and that the story actually made you give a damn but it made the whole game feel, so, empty.. And every quest was solo-able so for 99% of the game everyone was doin' their own thing.. After playing Rift (probably the most community orientated MMO) it was hard to not notice how 'singleplayer'-ish SWTOR felt.

I jus' hope that it goes differently with TSW.. I guess one way Funcom is combating that is by makeing the game a lot harder then TOR, I guess it gets really difficult later on to the point where you need a party to tackle some quests.. I'm lookin' forward to gettin' with a good guild thats into RP so I could get the most out of the game; that is if I purchase it.. Still wanna beta test it before hand.

I'm interested. Age of Conan was super promising (And not all that bad around the 3-month mark). I just hope this time Funcom can keep up with the maintenance.

The Secret World has been pushed back again.. 2 more weeks.. July 3rd is now the date.. I was hopeing it'd release the June 12th as planned because the 8th is my birthday and ill have a nice cash infusion.. By July 3rd it'll all be spent on other games and booze Still, I guess it gives me more time to pre-order and try out the weekend betas.

They also laid out their future beta events.. June 22-24 is the final beta event and showcases the games player-versus-player aspects.. I'll defiantly be checkin that one out.. You can check out the article here if anyones interested.
