-Zeta Gundam: After the original series and the first few episodes I figured it'd be the same near-boring experience repeating itself, but it turned out to be good in the end. Not "Oh my god!" good but still good.

Oh, yeah! Forgot all about Gundam Wing! I've never been a fan of mecha anime, found the concept dopey, yet, when I watched this show when it was part of Cartoon Network's original Toonami lineup, I was highly skeptical at first, but I soon got into the show which I found highly intriguing, and not just because of the giant robots either.

I honestly can't think of any. I can think of some that I thought I'd like but ended up disliking. If I think I'll hate something, I won't bother watching it.

I’ve never actually watched an anime series thinking I would hate it. (That would be a total waste of time and money). However, I was not sure about Kanon (2006), Air and Clannad because of the way the faces were drawn (especially the eyes) I researched those series and their plots seemed solid, so I gave them a try. I loved them. (Kanon more then the others though.) Once I started Kanon I totally forgot about the creepy eyes and watched the entire series in less then a week (which is rare). I have a few series that I thought I would love, but ended up hating; however, that’s for another thread.

Ouran High School Host Club

When it first came out in Japan, it got a lot of buzz, and I ended up checking it out and watched the entire thing with some friends (1 episode at a time I believe, back in the fansub days). I think it was the first shoujo series I ever tried, and surprisingly I liked it quite a bit. I didn't go into it thinking I'd "hate" it, but I figured it would be too girly for my tastes. I liked it so much I bought the blu ray set when it came out a while ago, tho I haven't gotten around to watching it a second time yet.

Yeah I believe Ouran High School Host Club was another that didn't interest me after the first ep but the more I watched the more I loved it.

Why don't we try a new thread, "Thought you'd hate it but ended up hating it."

Code Geass: I hate mecha usually, but I got hooked on this. Also, I'll watch anything that CLAMP is involved with. Except Blood C+ because that show was just a huge WTF trollfest.

Moretsu Pirates: I don't normally watch space anime either, but everyone kept saying how good this show is...and they were right! I enjoy it a lot though truthfully it's kind of dragging at the moment and a little too MOE MOE KYUN for my taste. But then again, I'm not a fanboy so I guess it doesn't matter.

Space Brothers: Another one that everyone kept saying was really, really good and.......they were right! I thought it'd be straight on drama but Mutta is totally my favorite character so far this year, along with MP's Marika.

The Wallflower! Oh man, seeing those bishies, who looked like (and probably were meant to be) wearing make-up. Especially with the ultra-bishie fangirl-tastic opening complete with shower scenes I was certain i would hate it. But i ended up loving it and finding it hilarious.

I mean come on, this is the cover:

but i stayed for :

Well when I saw The Wallflower cover I thought I would never touch it:

I thought it was yaoi!

After I saw the ADV trailer it changed my mind and I had to watch it.

Pretty funny trailer. "Breathtaking animation!" *stick figures walk across screen*

My head hurts when he pronounces bishounen as bye shonan tho.
