Anime, Manga, or Both?
This isn't meant to be a debate on which one is better, but more of a general question.
Last year I started to get into One Piece since Funimation started releasing the "Collection" box sets. I've been thinking about getting the manga as well but I wanted to know if I should stick to the anime or get both? Are there other fans who* do have both the anime and manga or do you stick with one or the other? Last edited by Somnia; April 15th, 2012 at 09:03 AM. Reason: *who, not "how" :P |

I personally prefer the manga to the anime, for what it's worth. I've tried to watch some of the animated version, but it just didn't hold my interest.

Manga, baby. Although it does get expensive so it has taken me a LONG TIME to get as far as I have (um...Volume 12
) it is well worth it. I love reading, and I love the artwork style, pacing, and humor.Anime is great and all, but I haven't watched One Piece and probably won't. I already have the characters decided in my mind what they should sound like; to watch it may ruin it for me (especially if I can only find the English dub). I'm picky about some things I guess. *Shrugs* |

Been with the anime for almost 10 years now. Couldn't watch it any other way at this point. Though I'm sure the manga's great. But I gotta have the amazing music and great voice acting.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I just love everything the Manga offers (Then again, I prefer Manga on a whole). Plus the art is a lot stronger to me in the manga, but that might just be me. That said, as a manga reader there are moments so good I had to watch how it unfolded in the Anime (The end of Skypiea, Impel Down, etc.). |

I started with the anime and by the time I got caught up (just at the start of Thriller Bark) I transitioned to the manga and haven't looked back since. I tried going back to the anime to see fights and such animated but couldn't stick with it. I 'll be reading manga till it ends or I die...but...anime or manga either way get your fill of one piece.

I would probably say both because I've found both versions to be highly enjoyable. One Piece as a whole is very engaging and really sucks the viewer/reader in.

So far I've more or less just watched the anime, with a few volumes of the manga early on. I've been told by numerous friends though that I should switch to the manga soonish, since the quality and pacing apparently goes to hell a little bit. I'm still at Thriller Bark though.

Both.
I am a One Piece maniac. I love the Anime. It captures and combines emotion and music together beautifully. The voice acting is also superb. It's a lot of fun to watch. I've re-watched the first 53 episodes three times. The Manga is amazing. The pacing is just perfect, and it's very easy to marathon. I bought the first 46 volumes in two weeks last summer. That pretty much covers my favourite arcs (Arlong, Alabasta, Water 7). It's both my #1 favourite Anime and Manga. Best adventure series in my opinion. |
