Saki season 2 announced

And a spin-off manga too:

Never even heard of the website before but the images look legitimate.

Edit: ANN link

Great news! I loved Saki. It was such a fun show. Crunchyroll better pick up the new season since I really doubt Saki will ever get a DVD or Blu Ray release in the US. I would never have guessed that yuri subtext and mahjong would be such a great combination.

The news is on ANN now too, so I'm guessing that it's legit.

I have heard the manga is really slow though, they are not even done with the national tournament.

^ Wouldn't that be the end of the series?

It could be, or Saki could like turn pro or something.

Subtext? Nodoka probably picked names for her and Saki's children by mid-season. I won't even go into Tsuruga's Yumi and Momo (who threw subtext out the window in their first episode).

I hope they keep the production values high. Then we can finally meet Teru.

Tacos may have been the only straight character in that show

I agree, but I wanted to word it that way because I didn't want to start any arguments. There's certain members who pretty much refuse to acknowledge any relationship unless it's very blatantly stated in an anime. I figured better safe than sorry

Taco fang was about the only enjoyable thing about that show

Maybe the yakitate! level (well maybe a little under that) dramatizations were funny

I was pretty much done with it when you got to the point the characters were like "Lets go take a nap in this room over here together. Without our panties on, for no particular reason." I hear all chess masters typically take their pants off in the half nekkid room that all such tournaments provide, and nap together before matches.
