Heaven or Hell! - Fighter Central
What with all the FG discussions spawning recently, this thread should only be appropriate.
First, a link to the previous thread: Link The purpose of this thread is a bit different, however. Where the previous one was centered on vids, I wish for this one to be more about information and knowledge, though vids are certainly welcome! If you have a question or wish to strike up a debate, go ahead! I have experience with most of the better-known 2D titles, though I specialize in Guilty Gear and Blazblue. I manage top 8 at local and city-wide tournaments, so while I'm not a top player, I don't do badly either. Discuss! Resource links: SRK for SF/MvC3 discussion. It is the FG Mecca for NA players. Dustloop if you're inclined to ASW games. Melty Bread for Melty Blood players. |

HK, any word on BBCS2 coming to America, since it supposedly had more story stuff, or is that just going to be the DLC characters and that's all?
Granted, I don't know if it actually did have any more story stuff but BB's story is one of the more well written ones I've ever seen in gaming let alone FGs so yeah. Oh, and is Platinum out yet?

I'd have added a link to KOF, but I'm not aware of its main go-to place. If you know of it, I'd be glad to put it up with the rest.

Yes, the story continues in CS2 and should wrap up the events started in CS by fleshing out the new character's backstory. Note: CS2 is expected to be a free patch, but this could change. Gameplay-wise, CS2 has a couple notable tweaks that tighten the tiers, lower damage across the board, and cause you to have to think more when playing. It is generally considered a good gameplay upgrade to CS unless your character was nerfed (they neutered Haku ).

Games to look forward to:
![]() and ![]() Skulls Girls is a game that is made by Autumn Games along side Mike Z, a well known Tager player in the US. It's gonna be a $10-$15 fighter coming out in the summer. The game is more influenced by Darkstalkers, Marvel, Melty Blood. The game has a lot of depth, and a lot of mechanics, and code that goes beyond Capcom fighting games. Anti infinite mechanics, programmable assist feature (do an input in the program section, and the assist will do that input). Due out Summer Arcana Heart 3 is gonna be a PSN only release due out this Spring. Gonna have BB quality online, so this one will be worth picking up. Oh yeah, definitely looking forward to Skull Girls. MikeZ sometimes pops in Dustloop to talk about what he does, and his stuff makes us hardcore players drool because it's simply the smart mechanic to put in a fighter. It looks great in motion, too. I think the design is also great, but this one is a love-it-or-hate-it for most.
Extended interview for a better look: (1), (2) As for AH3, I've played a bit, and it's not really my kind of fighter. It controls weirdly (though not badly!) and I'm not a fan of the design. However, it's noted for its depth and wide range of customizability though I can only support the customization part since I didn't invest much into it. For intermediate to advanced players. ----- Extra goodie: one of the flashiest combo movies (Blazblue) I've laid eyes on. Lush makes some top-tier stuff. To be honest i don't know were the KOF crowd congregates these day's, current release's have not been kind to that series and i've gradually left the scene. I still lol to this day over the 3d KOF game. (honestly no game has survived the 2d to 3d mechanic switch, did you think you were any different KOF?)

I was excited to see this thread until I remembered that there are some serious fighting fans here, where as I'm a very casual fan who only has enough patience to learn the moves and maybe beat the boss on normal. Though Perhaps I can learn a thing or two here.
With that said, I look forward to getting my butt handed to me in Skullgirls and Arcana Heart 3!<3 They look sooo awesome! I gotta get a PS3 first of course, but I'm working on that.

Don't worry if you play it casually. I play very casually, and the only game I ever put a lot of hours into is ST. I know a lot about the games, but I barely play them. I wish I could put in a lot time in MVC3, but having no one to play with offline is kinda meh. I just rater play other genres because online in fighters feel like 1996 PC circa.

^^ Any level of discussion is perfectly welcome! Don't be daunted just because someone knows more than you do.

Not interested honestly. I don't play fighters enough to care. Even when CS, and Quake was big, I didn't bother seeking locals. I'm strictly online. It's nice when you can play offline, but I don't go out of my way to find those things.

@topic: I do like the look of Skullgirls but I don't really know a whole lot about it. That's the one with only palette swaps of one character (and thus no tiers and perfect balance), right? Definitely am staying away from Arcana Heart -- the previous iteration(s) were enough to convince me it's too technical for me, plus the trophies look really difficult to boot. |

Ah, well that makes me feel better. These days I mostly play King of Fighters, though I do have most well-known fighters, including BlazBlue, Guilty Gear (Latest version at least, played the hell out of #Reload), Street Fighter, Tekken, etc. As well as some unknowns like Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. As I said, I'm a pretty casual player, though I used to be pretty serious when I had MAME, playing many fighters non-stop until I realized it was illegal. Kinda sucks because now that I own most of the worthwhile games I played on disk, I can't get into them like I used to.
Has anyone here played Fate/Unlimited Codes? I doubt anyone has because it's portable only. I just got it, and it's been fun so far, though controls are weird, I'm still getting used to it. Also, the AI is so **** stupid it's not even fun. I actually had to turn up the difficulty and I just started playing it. Also, since there's no KOF thing yet, does anybody know some good combos for Terry Bogard in KOF? He's my fave, so I'll always be playing as him, though I still can't remember how to be good with him.
